Dusk/Dawn transition time tweak (need a little clarity)

Recommended Posts

Can someone explain this tweak in a little more detail? I'm not sure which settings I need to change and which way I need to go to change the transition time. For example, if I wanted to make the transition from day to dusk occur later, which settings should be adjusted and should the value be increased or decreased? This is the tweak I am talking about from Phil Taylor's blog:For the dusk/dawn textures some people feel, subjectively, the result is too dark or too light. There are 2 items that allow the transition time to be changed:[GRAPHICS]DAY_THRESHOLDNIGHT_THRESHOLD acceptible values are 0 to 65535. Defaults:DAY: 32768NIGHT: 4096 These represent the amount of 'ambient' light at the ends of the day/night blend threshold. Zero is perfect dark, 65535 is full day sun at noon in the summer.

I guess that if you want it to be lighter at dusk (which sort of means day to dusk will seem later) you will have to set DAY both values higher: high is light, low is dark. So you can't really change the time of day to dusk but you can tweak how light or dark it will be at that time. If you really want to change the time of dusk I guess you will have to fly in another season. ;)
