[Work-in-Progress] Oceanside Municipal airport (KOKB)

Featured Replies

Hello simmers!

I have just finished San Diego Gillespie (KSEE), installed the Beta SU10 and finally wanted to start another airport freeware project with my amateur skills. I choose KOKB Oceanside Municipal in South California, up north San Diego. It's a very small field which won't take me too long to enhance with my skills and the philosophy of my previous projects: from a pilot's perspective, with default MSFS buildings and object, limited handmade texture, based on real data but compatible with MSFS existing content.

As you can see from embeded pictures below, I love to put specific taxiway signs. But I never flew in this field (in real), so I'm relaying on public data available: FAA/real aviation data, Google Maps, Bing Map (and aerial + the great Eye Bird view), mapcarta, all streetview from Google and Apple map and Youtube footage like this great drone view and this Gyrocopter takeoff. If you have pictures or data to make the field more accurate from a pilot's perspective, please help me and let me know! For example, I don't have the text displayed on the yellow sign (see the third pic below) 😉

Thank you if you can help!

Man, if only I could get you down to Florida and bless KISM...  That would be great!🙂

🙂 Just buy me a ticket that I took some real pics and… voilà ! 🙂 BTW, I rent once from Daytona and visited there with onboard a C172.

Just remember another detail! KOKB has skydiving ops called GO JUMP. For the past few month they lost two aircraft.

Yep, I did my best to set some object and texture to remind that Go Jump America has one of their base at KOKB. There're some tall flags along the touch down path north of the runway, that I would love to make available. But so far, I didn't find a neat solution

I'm not planning to have them in the scenery 😉 ;(

Regarding the fuel island, it's a little challenge and I may have to find 3D objects to mimic the object which aren't, exactly like this, in the stock sim. And finally, regarding the building on the public side, I don't know if I will pay attention that much for the v1 as the share are tricky to match with something in the default MSFS object database.

Thanks for the support!

Sweet! A regular stop for me as I head from Vancouver to California and back.

Thank you :)

Hey vbazillo, you're creating so many airports around my house, I'll never fly out of my hometown!  Thx-O-Bunch from a grateful San Diegan.  😎

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

I have had krnm kmyf and I52 installed for quite some time. Very good airports (all southern California).
