July 30, 20223 yr Hi. In a nutshell, Aerosoft has been trying to fix the sounds of their Twin Otter for MSFS, for some time now since its release. The problem they are running into is that none of the Twin Otter operators in Europe are willing to allow Aerosoft to do what they need to do, to record the sounds of the Twin Otter, even if Aerosoft is willing to pay for it. This is what Aerosoft is saying: Quote We have written to every operator in Europe and while most reply very kindly, none wants to have us around to make the recordings. It's not a financial affair because we simply pay for the use, but as we desire some rather peculiar things (like full take-off power, with prop power settings, without moving for a few seconds) most don't want it. Of course most aircraft are simply booked solid. Seems like Aerosoft is running out of options to find ways to record better sound for the Twin Otter. Mathijs Kok from Aerosoft is now asking if there are any real life Twin Otter pilots (I assume you would also need access to a Twin Otter too) that are willing to help Aerosoft out in his post here (Mathijs Kok leaves his contact information in that post). If there are real life Twin Otter pilots out there, it would be appreciated if you can help Aerosoft get the sounds fixed. I just purchased the Twin Otter recently, and I really like it. Of course, I wouldn't mind an improvement to the sounds, if that is possible. Edited July 30, 20223 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Of course, I wouldn't mind an improvement to the sounds, if that is possible. Ha!... This isn't aimed at you AT, but they had a perfectly reasonable solution at one stage that cost them nothing. I bought this sound pack... https://secure.simmarket.com/turbine-sound-studios-dhc-6-pt-6-twin-otter-hd-pilot-edition-soundpack-for-fsx.phtml ..and I used it with the freeware mod sound file at flightsim.to, and it was superb, until their stupid copyright strike when it had to be taken down. And they also made sure it didn't work anymore with a quick update to the Twin Otter. Some loyal Aerosoft buyers are apparently happy with the sound how it is now, but at least others had an option before they decided to get nasty. If they are really interested in fixing this, why don't they licence the sound pack and convert it to WWISE format? They were even offered assistance in doing this until they decided to bring the sledgehammer out. It would be cheaper than doing whole new recordings, and the TSS sounds are just great. Watch the video in the link if you aren't convinced. Turbine and prop sounds are independent and match what you would expect for one thing. Maybe needs some igniter sounds that were being worked on until it had to be pulled. So for me, they can go to hell now, and I will never buy anything Aerosoft again, and I don't think I need to looking at their product list anyway. I have just bought my first ever PMDG product. I know some people are critical due to other issues, but they changed their terms recently - have a look at this as an example of decency and understanding of the modders market... Modders & Tinkerers, Effective 23JUN22, we have changed our End User License Agreement to bring greater freedom to those who like to mod, tinker and be creative with their simulation experience. The boring legal writing is in the EULA, but to minimize confusion, here is what we want you to know: Liveries: No changes- have fun. Textures: You can create your own, or modify ours. This includes cockpits, cabins, or anything else that has a texture on it. You can distribute them on any freeware site you like, but we ask that you please refrain from selling/charging/burying your work on pay-to-play sites. (Let the world see what you created!) Config Files: Some art changes will require modification to various files and this is fine. Nothing to worry about. Models/Sounds/Etc: These sources are owned by PMDG Simulations, LLC. and are created at great expense. If your idea or project requires modification of these files, please reach out to us so that we can give you a free license to distribute your idea without infringing on our ownership rights. (This requirement is driven by case law related to intellectual property, not because we don't want you to be creative.) Something else?: Reach out and let us know what you need. We are always happy to help out. That was in notes to modders included with the B737-600 today by the way. Maybe Aerosoft should have tried that approach if they weren't so short sighted and arrogant 'words not allowed'. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). July 30, 20223 yr Hi bobcat999. I concur re otter sounds. I have over 2000 hrs of Otter experience. Both as a MX, and pilot. TSS, has got it nailed down nicely. Including the prop blade slapping sound, when props are feathered. Which by the way was the standard way to start and shut down the twin otter. Unless, it's on floats, then it had start locks for the props. I agree, it's a shame Aerosoft want to make EZ Hard! I bought the twin otter they released for P3d, it was OK, but they have never gotten the 37 1/2 degree flaps flight characteristic correct. If you did a full STOL takeoff at 37 1/2 flaps, the contol yoke was held all the way back to your chest. This was due to the fact, the plane would initially have a nose down ( ala helicopter) If you didn't, wheelbarrowing city! On landing, very pronounced nose down attitue on the twin otter at full flaps. From what I have seen, even on the msfs twin otter, still looks like a more normal cessna 172 type attitude on approach. Just my .02 from my past twin otter experience.

I used to watch the Brymon twin otters come and go all day long at my local airport, and I agree about the sounds. I must have heard hundreds of starts. I always wondered about the nose down on approach. I just thought it was pilots showing off and trying a 'Sarajevo' approach! Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). July 31, 20223 yr Aerosoft are full of it so don't be fooled. They told us all that they had been given permission to access a twin otter and had sent a sound guy to record the sounds. After a few weeks we received radio silence from Aerosoft as to how this "sound guy" was going. Then out of the blue, they tell us that the sounds didn't work. So don't be fooled by that bunch, it's a money issue, not an access issue. Jase Edited July 31, 20223 yr by JaseMelbo Jaseman. Lovin it up here........ July 31, 20223 yr This stinks to high heaven. It seems Mathijs is just trying to save his a*s by making this whole story up. As someone else mentioned, this is a financial issue. If he really wanted to record a Twin Otter, he could. The man makes more excuses than a politician and he's equally as rude to his constituents...

July 31, 20223 yr Perhaps if Aerosoft offered more than 20 dollars for the recording some companies would say yes. But that's typical for Kok, reduce development costs for the product whereever he can and put up the most shameless excuses (remember "We can't have a cabin for the A330, it would cost 8000 dollars to develop!"). I swear they are closing in on CaptainSim, day in day out. For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.
