Any real life Twin Otter pilots here that can help Aerosoft?

So don't be fooled by that bunch, it's a money issue, not an access issue.

Well, except access = money. After all, Aerosoft could probably charter a Twin Otter for a day, but at around Є2500 per hour you can see how that may not be viable. As I recall, Mathijs claimed to have sent recording equipment, not a 'sound guy'. The truth is one of the beta testers agreed to try to re-record sounds on the job but may have over-committed. I don't think the idea is dead yet, so there may be hope. It seems quite plausible that none of the other operators Aerosoft contacted would be interested in the trifling income it would bring them.

Any self respecting Twin Otter owner is going to type "Mathijs Kok" into Google and recoil in horror.....

ZIMEX runs a maintenance/restoring center at LSZR Altenrhein with a special competence in DHC-6 incl. new Viking makes, PC-6 Pilatus Porters, etc.

Many Twin Otters can be seen there, incl. Amphibian versions.

I mean, i was not aware, the Twin Otter is doing intercontinental flights!

You sometimes see the British Antarctic Survey Twotters ( and their Dash 7 ) in the UK, especially during the Antarctic winter. It's quite a haul from the South Pole.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

I just can't believe the things that are said on their forum sometimes.  It seems like a smokescreen (trying to be kind and not say BS!)
They have the option of a solution I mentioned earlier.  Go to TSS and licence their superb sounds.  Someone can convert them to WWISE format, or close enough.  TSS would be glad of the extra income I'm sure, and it shouldn't cost a fortune.
As for MK, I have really liked everyone I have ever met or known about from the Netherlands - truly great people, but I have real doubts about just this one, what he says, and his general behaviour.

Just on my last flight from LSZR (DA40NG) in July2022 I had to give way to a Twin Otter.

Might also be one of the most close Twin Otter "base" to aerosoft HQ, since right at the southern German border...

They may yet make a silk purse out of a sow's ear if they commit themselves to it.  They need to really to gain some trust back.

Personally I can see them doing a Twin Otter + and charging for it again like last time.

This stinks to high heaven. It seems Mathijs is just trying to save his a*s by making this whole story up. As someone else mentioned, this is a financial issue. If he really wanted to record a Twin Otter, he could. The man makes more excuses than a politician and he's equally as rude to his constituents...

He has being rude honed to a sharp edge.

They had the choice to put proper effort into the plane when they initially developed it but chose not to and it still sold by the bucket load.

The idea that they'll now come back and fix the massive deficiencies (without charging again for an extended version) seems overly optimistic

I would find it hard to believe that a company as large as Aerosoft with their assets and contacts does not have the means to acquire the proper sounds. It tells me that their heart is not in it. Face it, like Bobcat999 mentioned there are different ways to reach the end goal.

Its like always in the Aerosoft forums: The customers and the Twotter Owners are the bad guys, not Aerosoft. 😄
