I'm glad that I'm bad at math.

Because I'd hate to know how much money I've spent on MSFS addons! 😁

I'll tell you another way that "ignorance is bliss" when it comes to MSFS. I've always been especially pleased with the performance I get out of the sim, even on my seven-year-old computer. I've always gotten steady, smooth performance, and I estimated in my head what my good FPS probably was. Then, for no reason, I decided to run a check. To make a long story short, I'm getting about 10 FPS less than I thought I was getting. The sim still runs the same of course, but I'm somehow less pleased now. Obviously, this is entirely a psychiatric thing on my part.

I quit worrying about frame rates unless they drop so much I can see them.

But take solace in the fact that we have such an overload of quality freeware for MSFS.  Where was TO when we needed it with previous FS versions?

Yes, I have a ton of freeware! And the quality is great.

I used to spend a hundred dollars a month on cigarettes and now I spend a hundred dollars every six months on airports I can go to again and again.  I think its money well spent.

I am quite good at maths so I know how much I spent on addons. Zero. The default scenery is good enough and the FBW is so much fun. By the time I want to fly something else that excellent looking iniBuilds A310 will be released for free.

Well, MFS is actually the flight simulator I have been getting more satisfaction out of the default and just 5 addon aircraft with the lowest ever investment in a flight simulation platform.

The price I paid for the DC-6, 737-700 and Fenix A320 is innexpensive compared to what I paid for add-ons for FSX, P3D, XP. The level of satisfaction is at the level of the best addons I ever owned for those other platforms, so, my math is as god as it can be !  MFS is a great platforms in all sots of ways, including the money one has to spend to take the most out of it.

My bigest investment so far is actually cross-platform - Navigraph Charts + NavData. I'm buying it for periods of 30 days when I plan to use it more often. This one IS expensive... but makes a whole lot of a difference. It will also be good for XP12, and maybe one day for AEFS too ( ? ).

The way I look at it is that many days I'm spending that much or more on lunch or a meal of some sort and the experience lasts 20-30 minutes.  Yesterday, I took the wife and kids to Thai food for dinner and the bill was $63.00.  I would have much rather ate at mcdonalds and spent 50 bucks on flight sim.

Don't give in to temptation. Your PC is just fine.

Overpriced hardware delivers an extremely lousy ROI - this is why my 7-year-old PC is still sitting on my desk.
