Anyone tried enabling resizable bar on their 30xx cards

Benchmarking of this sim is frankly impossible.
From one day to the next, without changing anything in the settings and with strictly the same flight conditions, you can obtain a smooth 40 fps or a jerky 20 fps.
I'm done looking for the Holly Grail or the Magic Tweak, there aren't any.

I totally agree on that ! This sim can behave very differently from day to day with absolutely 0 changes whatsoever on my end.

Does it make any difference?

As I mentioned in my post I started off with a brand new installation of Windows 11 Pro and MSFS 2020. I loaded the PMDG 737-600 at EGGP runway 27 at 9am with few clouds and no traffic. Next using the developer fps window I adjusted the settings until I could get as close to 60fps as I could and took off doing a left circuit.

What I observed with none of the 3 changes I made was that the fps bounced around and as I was also using Riva I was paying attention to the frame time graph which was a little erratic. I did the same test after making each change and things gradually improved. I couldn't say for definite that any one thing made a massive difference but for me all three did show improvement.

If you look at the screenshot below which is toward the end of a 1.5 hour test flight you can see the frametime graph is perfectly smooth and also the developer fps window is showing everything in green. I know these tweaks can be perceived as "Snake Oil" but on my system it has made a difference, not an "OMG" difference but one that yielded favorable results . Yes the frametime has a little blip every now and then but generally stays solid.

It may also be due to your local isp speed if you are streaming terrain data…

I wonder if that is server or local internet related,

Even before I built my new PC I flew pretty much every single day and never had inconsistencies like you mentioned.

If all the tweaks YouTubers keep coming up with actually were so amazing we would be running our sims at 300 FPS by now.

Well I already had NDU disabled. Just followed the advice on enabling resize bar using Nvidia profile inspector + disable high precision event timer and run ISLC. Panning around in external view is much more smooth. SU9.

Hmm... ok, you've sold me some snake oil 😄 where do I sign up?  😛

Where did you come across the ISLC tweak?

Haha 😂 Well everything that I mentioned in my post above is described in these two videos:

Thanks... I also discovered your guide here...

That one is a couple of months old, so I should probably revisit it to check if the suggestions are still valid. Please let me know if something seems "off".

Found this video on forcing Resize Bar on... I will definitely test it rather than just assume it's having a positive effect...

I honestly didn't found any difference ON or OFF.

Same here. I tried using the NV Profile editor to hack it on and it made zero difference. Turned it back off. Maybe I’ll try it again when I switch to DX12. For now, if Nvidia has it disabled for MSFS it’s likely because the sim makes no use of it.

So I went through your guide and the videos on tweaking for MSFS and surprisingly, my NV CP settings were all at default, despite the fact I thought I had them set optimally. But that was a year ago or so. Anyway, I’m not sure what particular setting or combo of settings helped, but I got about 5-10FPS out of it. I suspect it was my vsync. I have a gsync compatible LG OLED, and when I first tested it, turning vsync off caused tearing, so I turned it back on. Tonight, I turned it off in game and turned on fast vsync in NV CP. I think that made a big difference. Although I was also missing ultra low latency, and prefer max performance (or whatever they’re called) so those might have made a big difference.

It’s great when you discover a 10-15% performance gain from just a few settings 😄

  • 4 months later...

I was going to try this though nvidiaProfileInspector in MSFS profile does not show the same as in the in Unknown section with the last version of  https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases/tag/2.4.0.3

Some clue?

Ok, I found someone with the same problem and an answer in the commentaries: "It's no longer under Unknown settings. Nvidia now has it under "Common" settings. They are now labelled as rBAR Feature, rBAR Options and rBAR Size Limit."
