GSX PRO is out

Featured Replies

It's been working quite well the last couple of days after we got over the initial node issues. And apart from a few niggles that i am sure will be sorted out given time, i am quite happy with it now. It also shows a lot of promise for the future as it develops alongside the sim.

I hope there will be more airports that will be integrated?

Hopefully the smarter devs amongst them will start adding the gate/stand settings from now on.

Call of the Wild and the bird animations are fabulous in this now 6 y/o title.  I recall Umberto mentioning animations are a challenge--perhaps especially for those with very little experience in coding animations well.

Nobody notices flaws in non-human animations, that's why there are so many games (even Indie games) featuring Zombies, we notice even the smallest flaw in human animations doing "normal" things.

There's a whole theory that dates back classic Disney animation, and is still valid today, animators need to exaggerate movements to make them fun and not creepy, that's why you see so many movies with fantasy characters and toys or animals, and so few (and all review say they look "creepy" and "lifeless" ) with animated humans that are supposed to be normal and realistic.

MSFS engine, while surely better that what we had before, still lacks something crucial to make human animation less lifeless or stiff or unnatural, and it's support for vertexes morphing, which allows to do better facial animations, with moving muscles and eye-blinks, etc. This might not be a problem for the mid/long distance, but if you get close, you miss them.

It's nice and all that some video creators decided to reinstall GSX again but of course the CTD's (which indeed had nothing to do with GSX after all) weren't the only problem. I do wonder if the creator(s) of GSX will listen to some of the wishes that have been posted during the last years, so long before MSFS was in play. One of my main gripes is the crew boarding: when I, the pilot, am already in the cockpit, setting things up, I don't want to see 'myself' (very slowly) walking to the plane, followed by a co-pilot and stewardesses (all one by one btw... why not as one group as they do in real life?!?!). It has been requested during the P3D-era already if this could be skipped. But no, here we are in MSFS and we still have it.

There seem to be too many old problems that simply have been ported over and THAT is what holding me back from buying GSX. I fear none of these old problems will ever be solved.

BTW Is there an option to make people walk faster, so at a realistic speed? Because as it is now it seems everyone has all day and is in no hurry at all or even extremely reluctant to get on board. It doesn't look like what I actually see on airports at ALL.

Even though I am not really into all this I would like to get GSX because I can see it can add some immersion and it has some interesting features too (pushback) but it's just not there yet and I wonder if things will ever get (really) better.

You can speed up boarding etc. by increasing the amount of pax that walk together (which works pretty good, I use "dense" to get a littlle faster than realistic boarding times) , but you cannot change the walking speed. All pax have a different walking speed by the way, the slowest obviously the elderly pax, the fastest some young backpacker I think.
To be honest the speed just seems fine to me, people don't run through the jetways or - god forbid - over the apron and past the engines. It's a high security situation and you can see people move slower than like in a shopping center. Also they are probably intelligent enough to understand that the airplane is not gonna depart earlier just because they walk faster.
Tldr walking speed seems normal to me. But seriously if that and the boarding captain is the biggest problem you have with GSX I'd say it's in a good shape.

The captain/crew boarding will change in future update, they've already changed it for deboarding (you can choose if the pilots and/or the crew leave the aircraft during deboarding), so should be no big deal doing the same for boarding.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Sounds good. So they are actually changing things... 😉

That has been there since the MSFS launch.

My biggest concern at the moment is the LOD distances in VR. The interior of the catering truck disappears at way too close distance. So do the suitcases on the carts, the lights on various vehicles and the pushback truck minus the towbar. This with max Object LOD in settings.

It's the same in non-VR mode.

Have any VR users got the menu to work in VR. Or is any known workaround? It doesn’t work for me.

Works for me like in 2D (WMR, G2). Sometimes I have to wait a little because fuel tanking is going on or have to click twice on the icon. I don't see any text messages though like in 2D.
