I think the -800 release will slam the PMDG server harder then the -700 release.

But what's the price of it?

Nah. The 700 was way more hyped than the 800, because the 700 was the first PMDG modern airliner release on MSFS. And everyone was really waiting for a study level airliner like the PMDG 737-700 at that time (albeit, the Maddog and BAe 146 released before the 700).  In addition, the Fenix A320 released already, and when the 700 released, the Fenix A320 hadn't released yet.

I remember the traffic on the PMDG Discord server the day of the 700 release. It was way more traffic than today.  Plus, when Chewwy and Fabio streamed the PMDG 737-700, their streams got like 2K viewers. In comparison, when Chewwy and Fabio streamed the 800, their streams only got like 500 viewers.

You make some valid points. I was going on the fact that many were waiting for the 800 and skipped the 700. Also like many of us we want both version. Either way it will do great in sales.

It's how they generate social media awareness. Also gets it hyped up, which further spreads awareness.  Really smart, if you ask me, that's exactly what I would do if I ran PMDG's marketing team.

I found it sort of mind blowing the first time then the 700 was released that people actually get offended by PMDG changing their Facebook cover photo a few times on release day. How evil. If only there was a way to stay off Facebook if it's too agonizing. 😏

I saw this in the PMDG Discord channel. It was a picture of the paint kits being released for the PMDG 737-800.  I can't verify the authenticity of this picture though:

There were something like 5 pictures in total on Facebook for the release of the PMDG 737-700.  They're at the second picture in Facebook for the 800. It will probably be another 3 to 4 hours from the time of this post, until the 800 releases.  Assuming they release a picture every 1 hour, or every 1.5 hours.

They're waiting for everyone in EU to be asleep to ease the servers lol.

Boarding, Pushback, Taxi, Holding Short and Take-off would be my guess.

Nevermind, this picture was taken from the PMDG website: https://pmdg.com/paint-kits/.  Looks like PMDG has allowed the paint kit for the 800 to be downloaded.

Twas the night of a PMDG release, when all thro' the house,

not a simmer was stirring no hand on their mouse;

the popup blockers were disabled on the browsers with care;

in hopes that St. Randazzo soon would be there;

The Europeans were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of TOGA launches danced in their heads.
