Your current favourite plane with predominantly steam gauges

Recommended Posts

What is it, please?

I noticed a similar thread here but many of the great planes recommend, even GA, have glass cockpits.

I somehow prefer to look at steam dials. I fly almost exclusively now the JP Logistics C152. The added autopilot is a great benefit.

I love the looks of cockpits of the current BAe 146 or MD 80 for MSFS (and miss the good old 737-400 or B767), but both 146 and MD80 deserve quite some study time and time is short now (job, family).

Any tips, please?

Milviz C310. It's the only GA I have installed and the only GA I fly. And I always and only use the panel with the old school radiostack, so no glass at all, not even a tiny GPS. I always fly using VOR and NDB only. It has a basic AP (KAP140 which currently is the default one which doesn't really work as it should but does the job) and a DME gauge (which only works with NAV1). This plane looks totally awesome in MSFS, perhaps the best looking GA in MSFS (imho).

For me it's the Cessna 152 (the JPLogistics version). Fantastic plane, the cockpit doesn't obscure your outside view as much. It's a bit slow, which is why my second favourite is the Piper Arrow. Can switch between GPS's (or turn GPS off) if that's your thing.

Add the V35 Bonanza..

These are my top three for sure.

C414 is what gets the most time from me but the C310 is almost as much.

As I've only flown 152s and 172s in the RW, I like to fly these the most as I can tell how realistic they are visually and to handle and fly.  I also use the freeware MW6 ultralight for low and slow sightseeing.  I'm struggling a bit with the more complex stuff TBH but do have flights in other planes from time to time.

I also like a bit of gliding and fly the K7, which was one of the training aircraft I learn to fly in, along with the rather nice Gotfriends Discus.

Tough choice if I had to pick only one. But top three are the Flysimware C414, the Milviz C310 and (drumroll please)…

The V35 Bonanza! Yes I’ve gotten to like this little one a lot in a short time. She handles very well, looks great, is relatively fast, and well, what more do you need?

Ive also got the analog Caravan, which I’ve only flown a few times yet, but I liked it.

Currently, as what do I fly most, that would be Beech 18 with Stearman close second.

However, the overall best would be PMDG DC-6.
