I've changed a few settings - increased shadow maps to 4096 and turned off sharpen and film grain. Then set it to read only to prevent the sim from overwriting the changes. Is this how others are doing it? Don't need to set it read only as long as you have the sim set to 'custom'. In the usercfg.opt you will see custom a little way down. I just drove for fifty miles through towns and countryside, paying particular attention to shadow depth, detail in the shadows, cloud colour, light intensity shadow colours/tints. As well as wanting to fly aircraft close to real world complexity, flying in/out of airports close to the real ones, scenery close to the real scenery - I want lighting/clouds/colours that are close to the real ones. Reshade is a fun product to tinker with the sim to match what I see with my own eyes. August 27, 20223 yr I´m a bit confused. I have successfully installed the FinalLight Reshade preset from Flightsim.to and I do like what I´m seeing. Now, if I like to add some more shaders, do I just add them to ReshadeInjectUWP/Shader folder? Store version in here. Tapani Österberg

I think it is somewhat akin to photography and image editing which I really enjoy. The sim does look quite good out of the box. But after a while one starts to notice things like highlights, contrast, colour saturation, colour temperature and how sharp things look. I like to tinker with these things, to tune things the way I like it. And by the way. When I edited photos, my goal was not always to reflect reality as best I could. More often than not I would edit my photos to enhance an overall mood, bring out more contrast in the sky, enhance the dynamic range, increase the vibrancy slightly to make things "pop". Reshade is no different. To be honest the big question is why I waited for so long before using it with MSFS 🙂 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Just copy the contents of the shader folder to the corresponding folder in ReshadeInjectUWP and do the same with the textures. When you load the sim reshade will have everything ready. Then just select the shaders you want to use in the home menu of reshade. You can also make your own preset. At the top of the home tab, just make yourself one and name it something like Custom. No need to save it. Whenever you make any changes, it will be saved automatically as an .ini file in the ReshadeInjectUWP folder. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

August 28, 20223 yr Author Had a great time configuring Reshade today. The one thing I have struggled with is tints in shadows. When shadows are deepened, they can look too harsh or have tints. I have found a shader that allows configuring of shadows, midtones and highlights separately - many shaders do this of course, but prod80_03_shadows_midtones_highlights.fx has a tint control that can 'warm up' the shadows. In the following screengrabs I have used just three shaders. Although the shadows have been subtly darkened, they remain natural looking after a slight increase to the tint control to warm them up a little. An increase to the highlight contrast has deepened the blue sky. LutTools.fx for colour correction. prod80_03_shadows_midtones_highlights.fx for tone mapping Lumasharpen.fx for sharpening. Here are the three shaders with settings used. A final image in a different location that also highlights how good LumaSharp is with MSFS and the Map enhancement Mod on the Hogh LOD setting. August 28, 20223 yr @MrBitstFlyer doing it this way really makes sense. Great shots! I’ll give it a try. If I like it I might replace quint_lightroom with this. EDIT: Doing it this way I might not need to tweak the HDR settings on my OLED to prevent the highlights from being blown like in these screenshots. 52 minutes ago, MrBitstFlyer said: Map enhancement Mod on the Hogh LOD setting Still no luck for me even with the latest version 😞 Edited August 28, 20223 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

August 28, 20223 yr I think I'm on the right track. Tuning the highlights this way and I can return my OLED HDR settings to default. Which is good as I don't just use it for MSFS. Default (highlights are blown): Reshade (reduced exposure and added contrast to highlights): (I cropped the images from 4K to 1300x1040) EDIT: It's difficult with HDR screenshots. I don't get that pink hue in the clouds when looking at the OLED... Edited August 28, 20223 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
August 28, 20223 yr Pretty happy with the results so far. I took a few screenshots: My shaders: LUTTools.fx from FinalLight's preset LumaSharpen.fx PD80_03_Shadows_Midtones_Highlights.fx CinematicDOF.fx And here's my preset if anyone's interested. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
