Generic jet sound that I can’t get rid of

Featured Replies

I know there was an issue in a previous build with generic jet sounds appearing in the sim, a ‘hairdryer’ sound as people referred to it, but it was fixed. Well I have the latest version of the sim but I have it and it is doing my head in. It is in external and internal views, engines off or on. I cannot get rid of it. I have AIG models installed for VATSIM traffic - I don't know if that has something to do with it but the sound occurs whether I’m connected to VATSIM or not, and all other AI is turned off. Turning the other aircraft volume levels to 0 does not help. Is there anyone, please, who knows of a cfg or xml file parameter I can change or something I can do to get rid of this confounded noise?? Any help hugely appreciated.

As a temporary solution, you could try changing your cockpit sound settings to headphone simulation and see if it makes any difference.

By 'latest version', do you mean formal release?  Or the latest SU10 beta version?  I am not hearing the sounds in the latest beta, which is probably a good sign.  SU10 is due for formal release in about a week or so.

Sorry yes SU 9 not 10. Maybe 10 will clear it out but at the moment, it’s doing my head in. The headphone option doesn’t remove it at all.

It might be something else though since this issue could be worked around by disabling other aircraft volume or it could be dampened by using headphone simulation,
Anyhow it was supposed to be fixed with the latest SU's and it did so for me at least.

Do you have the issue with all aircraft, or just one?

Yes, all aircraft. It has particularly annoyed me because I didn’t have the problem in the last build like everybody else did and only have it now.

Have you tried removing all mods from your community folder and then trying a flight? You may find it's a mod that's causing it. Doesn't matter if AI is enabled or not if the mod that's causing it is still in the community folder. Just a thought.
