Reality XP and Xplane 12

Recommended Posts

Also hoping for a Product Update to install Reality XP GTN 750 in X-Plane 12. Seems as though this ought to be relatively simple, as XP12 is mainly an upgrade of XP11. I would gladly pay an upgrade fee, as registered buyer of your XP11 version.

2 years in, nothing on the new MSFS, hopefully the tweaking to get the XP11 stuff to work with XP12 is something they’re willing to do. XP12 would make most of their products obsolete.

Jean-Luc blames the MSFS situation on the lack of access to the MSFS SDK.  Let's see what happens with XP 12.

This is not a good situation.

X-Plane 12 will have little value for me if I can't replicate the avionics in our flying club C-177B closely enough to continue using it as a cockpit procedures trainer.

I can get by pretending that a simulated G-1000 or G3X is close enough to our actual dual GI 275 installation; the fact that there is no prospect of ever having GI 275 support in the Garmin PC trainer is almost as disappointing as the extremely low quality of the GI 275 documentation. I can understand that an X-Plane 12 version of RealityXP may need to be a separate product to fund the necessary engineering effort... RealityXP  gives every sign of being a side project for a professional developer. j_eu2xeHQLGMZx03JaVK10f_jIStgykU3UN3A1vbk1z2kLGCgoJI2u6XaUPBgL5TT7Zh-MyBC33KN6SFduV6LJYtEL2uJ4BDV5HDiwaj6Nh_8jgGaIuHTuIaWt2z9pKBmI9Da_-uZqwBWD-ULkKMyWJcHz2RDVq6dGsbZWgtihYPmISDhXgJJ8EkdZrhCZnwImVbyV2oeCiXfLsDNtcspwackkZHyyYy4BD9K-g7VUMTT2IyNEdehxwr3MYKfe9GXFLkdF-XBTgLHvtDVz_2gd0cHWRWnIxDGnGfL-0o5J3oVR6I3qzlgx6l-jKVBZdy9E7sGI_OWtvAk1pBdUpTLI3YRzVkHtNC_lGfeDwLlf8YwuI2D0pvLtBbIwhk5WKF7xNEtgUbcBOIk1CDe29lEnCht-MZ7RIWM8GCFdsQ82o72xCnlEYdgCVZQ1Ln0OU2z3tokjytV5tUnD1FBKa7tN2zyuyIHHdp3QFPXnYsS2V9g8tada-lEnwcTXhWryWRIG1pPApvzyJ2Kk7fO8pkqE3XHr9CbETmD1TafxON4AAPnJlJUc7Wf8skeTuHO35OznOGpdMo_haaaRR84tqHpe2K1CewUhtOhpeCSOKMdlXpiIcuYS8RFCGfyisC4Fe9QRCkJYmrJdI9S0GGMM1ZntvHCdGdtjviCTHAQ7W40WTB9mFl_DUxhP6TZo9WPxuKbQ2km4x84EYZ31XIW5WHaUNiFitIrVaGBnJ0gZPRg0cndhM6yVqONTDqsDeVlaX7q-0emxtJvPzzBMTwzd9POyilediJ99pPg_07Le55sbP4DqcGLEWRGP-BJ6_DP4_CuTaUeKScYzBwNRmJyuJ6tWzsaaPdceklIx0U3ECe6MoY7TzeGeMZagrZc-aLhjp1yS7bmhyzOoGVLCdGGVVniAkg6lWvmVXdmJ2LBxzpyut81NYCSb_YlPPihBk-iXDJNAmHNQLAlmrnT-a0=w2164-h1025-no?authuser=0

Any chance it's just an installer issue and there is a way to copy a directory and/or a few files from XP11 into the right places in XP12?  I just don't know this plugin well enough...

Nope, you can trick the installer into running on windows if you temporarily replace the XP12 X-plane.exe with the XP11 version.

But (after you switch the .exe back) when you run XP12 the plug-in itself won't run as it doesn't recognise the XPlane version.

I've found this work around to make it work in XP12, still hoping for a full update from the developer:

https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/271747-realityxp-gtn-750650-do-they-work-in-xp12/&do=findComment&comment=2409064

In my XP12 Log.txt: RXP version 2.5.26.0 (I used the installer I downloaded in Aug-12-2020)

In my XP11 Log.txt: RXP version 2.5.29.0 (I installed it 2 years ago, using teh same installer above mentioned. Maybe it was updated over time?)

And we have also ascertained from that thread that copying and pasting from XP11 DEPENDS on what version of the plugin you have

2.5.28.2 and 2.5.26.0 works perfectly

2.5.29.0 (current ) does NOT...  RuiMC's workaround above is your best bet if you have a newer install

The workaround above won't make any difference if your installer is for version 2.5.28.6 or above (I don't know about 2.5.28.5)

In that case, even if you can install the plugins, they will report an XP version error when you start the sim and won't run.

Until RXP can release updated versions the best things seems to be to try to find copies of v2.5.28.2 installer so people can try that (though looking at the release notes on the RXP website would that require going back to the Garmin Trainer 3.0.1.0 ?)
