Thanks Donka - I have already come across the first link and tried all the suggested solutions - will take a more detailed look at the second link which is new to me

Been without MSFS for 10 days now. Originally would not load due to 0x80004005 error, tried various suggestions, eventually uninstalled MSFS 2020 - and now get the 0x0000001 error when I try and reinstall. I have searched forums and the youtube channel and have tried every suggestion, including reinstalling windows without losing data and apps. Other than formatting the discs and starting from scratch - surely there has to be a solution?

I already had a thread on this forum on the same subject, which I posted about 10 days ago - just reaching out again - in case someone in the community has any further suggestions.

My version of MSFS is the store version, and I am trying to reinstall it on to my window 10 PC (64bits)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions - I need to get flying again

Have you tried setting your memory back to stock speeds (often xms off via bios)?

Sometimes some xms OC profiles cause issues on specific games.

Also, do avoid using programma like process lasso etc to exclude eventual unwanted side effects.

I had BSOD with windows 10 after 2 years stable use (P3D beta tests).

I couldn't eliminate the issues during 3 months! Sometimes a really fresh install of windows is the better way to go. I know it's lots of work for some, depending on your PC usage besides msfs.

I whish you good luck by sorting out. I know it's painful.

Have tried all the fixes that I have so far found for error 0x00000001 - many numerous times. Thanks

Then I assume you have come across the result that suggests downloading from MS Store may cause this error. The answer to that is blindingly obvious but having just paid for the software on MS Store, buying again from Steam would be anathema.  But keep this suggestion in your back pocket and never say never. It would be a roll of the dice, but it may be the only option you are left with.

No. No, Mav, this is not a good idea.

Sorry Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower!

The first error was possibly a corruption in the download or the install that resulted in an activation or license error. So after efforts to fix this failed, you eventually resorted to uninstalling MSFS. I think we have all been here !!

But, having uninstalled a potentially corrupted install, you keep getting the second error when you try to reinstall. There may be a number of registry entries that need to be cleaned out before a new install will take. So you need to clean up the registry. If you have already done that you may need to conduct more research on where all the MSFS registry entries actually hide?

Sounds like you've tried the traditional methods. And you get the error even when installing. I don't have much to add to what's already been said. Make sure you try everything in the help desk section of flightsimulator.com. Systematically. This is exactly what Zendesk support will advice you, so you might as well do this in advance, if you haven't done so.

I'd probably also emphasize that any RAM and GPU overclocks has to be removed - this partly helped me with the "memory could not be read" CTDs recently. MSFS is notoriously sensitive when it comes to overclocks.

Sometimes you'll actually save time by reinstalling Windows vs. spending weeks searching for the needle in the haystack. Also I think a purchase through Steam is worth considering.

Hope you'll be able to resolve it soon. I know first hand how frustrating this can be. Good luck!
