Windows 11 update 22h2 - Beware

Recommended Posts

You may see an update in your system to windows 11 22h2. If you do it, all your games will become a stutter fest. Something is wrong in that build that will destroy all games including MSFS. I had to roll back Windows because even the world map you select airports from was stuttering, which never happened before. Give this one some time to get sorted before you update.

had same issue, solved by installing latest nVidia 517.40 studio drivers

Nada prob's here.. Only thing it did do, that I didn't like, was run that darn Xbox G-Bar, which I've since disabled..

"Microsoft officially announced the general availability of Windows 11 version 22H2 on September 20. The update is available as a free download for existing Windows 11 users, and eligible Windows 10 PCs. The update is rolling out in waves, so it may not immediately be available to you in Windows Update. It should be made available to all eligible PCs in the coming days and weeks."

The only thing I ran into with 22H2, is that once it was done installing, it wanted me to activate my copy of Windows 11 again. Which I thought was odd, but not a big deal.

No offense, but I don't get the self confidence with which people sometimes are convinced that their own unique experience is transferable to everyone else. I get the good intentions with the warning, but a rephrasing into "may" would be appropriate. These "reports" sometimes cause panic (yeah I know) among people, seen often enough with MSFS.

After the update, 2 of my motherboard's drivers wouldn't load at bootup, but I haven't found this to be a problem so far. And, I did have to re-install the new Nvidia driver before it worked.

All seems fine otherwise.

I rolled this one back, too. Massive frame rate hit in both DX versions and with both drivers. Maybe it doesn't like my 2080Ti?

I wish folks would stop with these clickbaity titles that, more often than not, trumpet "problems" that turn out to be user errors.

"The rollout of Windows 11 22H2 is good news for many of us, but it is a different story for those using the NVIDIA GPUs. As spotted by Bleeping Computer, numerous Windows 11 users using the said graphics cards on their machines have been experiencing gaming performance issues, such as stutters and lags. The complaints are being aired on Reddit and Microsoft’s Community pages."
