MSFS suddenly starts redownloading everything

Recommended Posts

I was on the beta. I opted out of the beta and ran MSFS on both pc’s three days ago. Everything went well.

Yesterday I made a nice flight.

Today on both pc’s there was a 25 mb update what has resulted in a 102 Gb download.

That means a lot of extra work ! Also the Community folder has been cleared …

Both pc’s are still downloading

Bad luck, but never opt out of the beta before the update is released, there was no need for doing this...

Happened to me too. I had renamed my Community folder which is not in the default location, just to be sure. But after the initial 1.8 Gb download after opting out of the beta it wanted to install 99 Gb. Initially I pointed it to my renamed Community folder which didnt stop the download. I paused it and ended the program. Then I renamed my Community folder to normal and started MSFS again and pointed it to this folder. That prevented the 99 Gb download and it now works flawlessly.

Well done 😀

Luckliy 99% of my Addons are outside MSFS and being connected by the Addons Linker.

But it shouldn’t be doing this in the first place .

Same thing happened to me too. I lost everything, but I am glad I did because I had over 100GB of "junk" mods in the community folder, by MSFS uninstalling itself after opting out of the beta (after SU10 release) it allowed me to really go through all the mods I wanted thus saving me a massive amount of space. Thanfully the controller settings weren't deleted, but the graphics were. I wish it Asobo changed how opting out of the beta worked as opting in doesn't delete anything so why should opting out?

Same here, but it was simply the case of the installer not pointing to the correct custom install path. Simply re-browsed to the correct path and all was OK. Nothing to download.

same thing happened to me.  Waited until after the release version came out.  Then left.  Still wiped out my install.  My takeaway is that I'm not going to use the beta anymore.  Luckily most of my stuff was also outside of the community folder.  But reinstalling AIG/Traffic controller is not going to be fun.  Part of me wonders if I should just wait for the just flight real traffic.
