MS VS 2005

I have a couple of questions about VS2005 (&SP1) - is this required as a stand alone program for some addon aircraft to use/work in FSX and if so what is it and where can I get hold of it?. Thanks in advance.A confused DRAKY.(This does relate to Wilco's 777 payware addon)

hmmm... the only "MS VS 2005" i know would be visual studio. is this what you mean?(if so, i don't think any add-on should require installation of a thousand-dollar development environment ;-))

Yes MSVS2005 is Visual Studio 2005 which is a development environment. It sounds as though the addon in question has an accidental dependency on some of the VS2005 DLL's. Are you getting errors mentioning the term 'CLR' at all?Regards,Chris Norris

Thanks for the replies folks - yes I did mean Visual Studio 2005. I don't get any errors just a crash to desktop if I enable (as trusted) the gauge for the 777. If I diable this gause from loading the 777 will appear but with an empty cockpit of course. Wilco's support has been rather lacking so far - I'm a long way from my home and system right now (in USA; home is UK) but will get back with more details on my return.

The files that are needed are just runtime libraries (dlls) that allow some applications to run, not the VS program itself. The installer for it is here:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enThe gauge dll trusting thing you're referring to is part of FSX, is absolutely normal and you're required to do that before addons will run.

to be more exact, the "do you trust this ..." message is part of the new security stratergy of Windows. It was introduced with XP SP2 and is a inherent part of the OS.Of course, it is still valid for Vista.regards, Jan

Hi.As Ryan mentioned it will be the 'Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable' that would be required as I believe this is required for the gauges. Check in your 'Add or Remove Programs' to see if it is already installed. There is no way you would be required to have the full VS2005 (+ SP1) installed just to run addons.RegardsCarl Hackmanhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg
