What happened to online real time traffic?

Recommended Posts

Forward - I did my best to Google and research.. Nothing

I don't always stay in the loop on the in and outs of this sim on the technical side but as an adopter of this sim since release; every time I load the sim I ask "where did all the traffic go? Early releases of MSFS the real time traffic was massive as far as quantity. The VFR map heavily populated. It wasn't exactly in real time, but close enough and the air traffic was all over the place. Now a days. Any time I see any actual air traffic I get excited to see one lone aircraft flying around the northeast U.S.

What happened? Is there plans to bring the golden era back of real time online traffic natively? I know there are "mods" etc to do this but it's 2022 and it's been done by Microsoft in the past. What changed to nearly scuttle it?

Two steps to see if these are the cause.  Go into General Options, Data, and make sure real world traffic is on.  Apply and Save, Go Back.  Then into General Options again, Traffic, and on Traffic Type select Real-Time Online.  See if that works.

I gave up on these. They always keep spinning around themselves on the taxiways, blocking the taxiway. That's a bug which Asobo obviously did not find the time to remove.

True. Probably it's very time-consuming as it may require them to rewrite the old FSX code (just speculation on my part). Rather than doing this Microsoft probably wants Asobo to focus on other, more attractive stuff that keeps the sim moving forward and sell more copies.
