I think what he's trying to say is that for the money, what is 50 fps vs. 90 fps in the sim?    Are you really going to notice it in the sim?

I can definitely tell a difference between 30 vs. 40 vs. 50 fps in MSFS.  But above 50, I really have a hard time telling any difference.

It at least allows for potentially more headroom for AI, higher TLOD, etc. while aiming for 36 to 60 FPS which for me is the sweet spot.

I loaded up the sim at iniscene KLAX and even with 35-40 FPS it didn’t smooth things out.  It’s interesting that the in sim devmode FPS doesn’t change but when you run caputreframex it records the higher FPS.  Even though I was showing 75 FPS as an average the lows were still in the 20s and 30s.  I was using a 120hz GSync 3840x1600 monitor.

The stutters are still very much there. I’ll be curious as more people get their cards over the next week or two but I still stand by those at 4k are not going to be impressed.  People will notice the AI generated scrambling of the cockpit but the appetite for that I am sure will be personal. It’s a weird effect but maybe just needs some getting used to. Even then where you need it most in heavy airports where your CPU drops it to 35-40 FPS the erratic frame rate isn’t much if any smoother than what a 3090 was doing.

Interesting feedback as I’m currently thinking about upgrading to a 3090ti rather than a 4090.

There was a sale for them at 999 but they would have to drop further for them to attract me.

But this info makes it solid that for my needs a 4090 will be surplus to my requirements at my monitors Refresh rate and resolution. (I can however see me taking a 4080 16GB and jacking up the render scaling in TAA mode further than the present 115% though) locking at 50 fps and being done with it all. Still waiting for the AMD shoe to drop.

Apparently. I haven't got a tracking number though. Maybe someone else got it?

Norway. We've got VAT >20% so yeah, there'll be a huge surplus added to an already gargantuan price. I just really hope I'll be able to squeeze it into my current case, lol. Otherwise I'll just go "open air" like I've done before.

There's a bug right now with some glass gauges in dx12 and su11 beta - might be related.  Asobo knows about it though.

Nothing that a good 2.XXX or 3.XXX series can do, without spending $2000 for an elephantomatic and stellar 4.XXX series and the ridiculous DLSS 3.0.

Has anybody tried an asteroid and weaselweenie  4.FFF series?

Does it though? It's been mentioned that a high FPS number (around 60 from videos) is needed for DLSS3 to work as it's supposed to, so with lower FPS at large airports, AI, etc. it apparently doesn't deliver that and from the OP's report even seems to cause artifacts.

Basically, it seems the 4090 plus DLSS3 is made out to be the holy grail of performance we thought many times in the past we finally had, but while nice performance improvements were achieved, no card or tech was really that holy grail that suddenly transformed 25 FPS at JFK with heavy traffic, clouds and a complex aircraft into buttersmooth 50 FPS. I'd love if this was the case here but I'm having a hard time believing the time has come and I haven't seen any benchmarks or videos so far that would prove that other than that it doubles FPS in cases where FPS were already very good, meaning the excess doesn't really make a difference.

I actually did see a video tonight but I can't find it, it was a comparison between a 3080 ti verses a 4090 using dlss3 and in the 172 over new york 4 k ultra settings 186 fps butter smooth I'll try to find it, was a comparison of 10 games
