October 18, 20223 yr what would be the impact on MSFS future growth? Microsoft lays off nearly 1,000 people across the company. https://www.theverge.com/ A week after Microsoft announced new hardware and big moves in the VR and AR space it’s reportedly laid off nearly 1,000 people across the company, including on the Xbox and Edge teams. Also affected was the MSMT division, which is focused on developing next gen tech. Microsoft quietly laid off under 1,000 employees in teams across the company, from Xbox to government tech Ali A. October 18, 20223 yr I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, they can't touch Asobo staff for starters and there's probably tens of thousands of MS staff spread across a whole manner of different areas. Besides MSFS is raking the cash in, if anything they should be looking at adding staff not taking away! October 18, 20223 yr It's never good when someone loses their job like this. In terms of MSFS though I'm not sure this would really have an impact. Mainly with how much they are doing for the 40th year anniversary so I think the platform itself is in safe hands. October 18, 20223 yr Fortunately. MSFS is likely making Microsoft tons of money. They accomplished what they always wanted to do. Dominate the sim market while also cashing in on 3rd party developer products with their market place. At the same time, 3rd parties are still getting a piece of the pie also. It's a Win, Win, Win situation for all involved. October 18, 20223 yr Well Asobo is the developer of MSFS. As long as Jorg is at MS, nothing will change. MS has 220,000 employees, so 1000 is actually not significant. Edited October 18, 20223 yr by ErichB

But they have made comments such as 'very pleased with sales' and 'beyond expectations' etc. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). October 18, 20223 yr Most redundancies of this scale in a company that big will come from early retirement. I've been dreaming of getting early retirement on a full pension since I was about 35 🙂 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2 - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base
