Aerosoft looking for sound testers for Twin Otter

Featured Replies

Well, looks like Aerosoft got the new sound recordings for the Twin Otter.  If you're a real life pilot with experience in the Twin Otter and you also own the Aerosoft Twin Otter in MSFS, perhaps you may want to help Aerosoft test the new sounds.  As per Mathijs Kok's posting:

We are building a new sound set for the Twin Otter and we would like to invite some testers. Clearly we prefer people who have experience on the model because it has a internal sound that is rather peculiar (with nearly no sound dampening and the props directly aligned the the cockpit).

We do have some pilots assisting us but it is clear we have to find a balance between what it should be and what is expected.

Contact me on [e-mail snipped, you can go to the original post for the e-mail address] you like to assist us.

Disclosure: I own the Aerosoft Twin Otter (because there is no other Twin Otter in MSFS), and of course, I would like the sounds to be better.

I am sure the guy that developed the absolutely excellent sound file setup and then got kicked off fightsim.to by them would love to help!

It is an iconic plane that deserved better.   A decent sound set, the odd tweak / fix, and a bit of polish would make this a decent purchase after all.  It's a shame that it has took so long.

Quite happy with FTsim's twotter sound pack.

I have heard it is good.  I joined as a Patreon a few months ago and haven't got around to downloading anything yet.

The King Air sound set is supposed to be good as well.  I was thinking of pairing this with the analogue gauge enhancement at the weekend, but I haven't flown the XSTOL much yet.  Just wondering if the FTSim King Air pack might go well with that also, as the stock sounds are a bit flat.  Although twin engine pack to single, not sure how it would react.

I noticed that he did post a version for the King Air analogue gauge version,   but I have no experience with it.

Very tempted by the XSTOL,   I love the design.

Since there are so many threads about the Twin Otter, I don't want to start a new one.

But I have a question!

Is anyone else having trouble with the autopilot? It seems to stick on ALT if you've already engaged it. Sometimes I can get it to increase or decrease climb rate, but it it's just acting weird.
IAS (Indicated Air Speed) button doesn't work at all.

I had the Aerosoft Twin Otter for FSX / P3D and it didn't have these issues.
And I've tried without any mods.

I for one am very glad to read this... the Twotter is a favorite of mine and she could really use a good scrub and polish.  Ta Aerosoft.

See my reply in the other thread. What I forgot to say there was that the ARM button is non-functional, so the altitude pre-select always auto-arms. I think there's a bug in this so if you try to select VS mode (by pressing ALT) when already at or close to the pre-selected altitude, ir doesn't work. Or rather, it does work but it immediately flips back to ALT mode because the AP thinks it's acquired the target altitude.
