October 26, 20223 yr Pure spam and money grab. It brings nothing to the table and does nothing. xE on XP11 was a disaster and Magnus was rude to us "users" whenever you talk negative about xE. It is one of the few addons that I regret buying on XP11 and I guarantee it will be the same on MSFS. And honestly, why on earth, giving up on a cutting edge MSFS's default weather and go back 10years with all those injection based weather applications? October 26, 20223 yr During the years I used XP11 I never could see the appeal of XE. I used Active Sky and a product I can't remember the name of for visual appearance. Also - I have REX WF, but rarely use it due to the transitions. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Yes, I have thoughts, but since this is a family-friendly forum I’ll just state that there’s no way that I will throw 42$ their way so that they can continue developing for XP … Cheers, Søren DissingIntel i9-13900K @5.6-5.8 Ghz | ASUS ROG RYUJIN III | ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 OC | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 64Gb DDR5 @5600 | 1Tb Samsung M.2 980 PRO (Win11), 1Tb Samsung M.2 980 PRO, | ASUS ROG Helios 601 | 32” ASUS PG32UCDM 240hz 4K | Chaseplane | TM TCA Captain's Edition, Winwing FCU + EFIS L/R, Tobii 5 | Win 11 Pro 64 | MSFS 2024 | BA Virtual | PSXT, RealTraffic w/ AIG models
October 26, 20223 yr I bought XE for X plane 11 some years ago. It was the most pointless c£70! that I’d spent up to at the time, but luckily i don’t feel the need for this now in MSFS. Having said that I’d like to hear from anyone using MSFS who’s actually bought it, and what their thoughts are. I’m conscious having not bought it myself I really have nothing much to say about either the product or the company.

I'm hoping for a YouTube video. What's most important to me is the weather at the airports I fly to- are they pretty close to the metar? Especially cloud bases and visibility. Sometimes I only fly to an airport to shoot approaches down to or close to minimums. Second is winds aloft - how accurate are they? Popping/shifting weather is a slight concern but if it's only occasionally then it's not an issue for me. I dropped nearly $70 for it way back in XP11. It never delivered on its promises for me, at least. Not a good investment. Updates were slow and performance was poor. It did make improvements to the look and feel of the weather but the performance hit was way too much. Once bitten, twice shy. October 26, 20223 yr Historical weather would be the USP for the product but it appears it only goes back to 16th of this month.
October 26, 20223 yr The release of Xenviro for MSFS will be a textbook example of a "failed release", in which the developers were pretty much "hoisted with their own petard". Looking at side by side comparisons, MSFS wins all the way. In addition, it pretty much does what RWF does already. Both are subject to the same limitations. Taken together with the, shall we say, uneven relationships with customers that the company has "cultivated" over the years, makes this definitely a no-buy for me. Whether the promised "historical weather" features offsets those issues is for simmers to decide.
October 26, 20223 yr I'd be interested in historical weather, too, but not at the price of hacking into MSFS. I've been more in some MSFS beta than not during the last months. In general, those addons are not working with betas. As a starter, does anyone know it xEnviro is working with the present SU11 beta? October 26, 20223 yr And by the way, looking at the comments in Facebook, FSElite and the video that was deleted by Q8Pilot, there is a huge hate towards xE, way worse than REX weather engine, it is mainly due to the "rude" attitude of Magnus, how he really burned all the bridges with the users and now xE officially have "bad reputation" among the flight sim community. This is a reminder for every third party developer, don't be arrogant or all the bridges will be burned (Aerosoft and Hartman I am looking at you) AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display
October 26, 20223 yr I saw this review in the official MSFS forums: Quote As a user of xEnviro in X-plane, I thought I would give XE 2020 a shot since it was offered at a discount to former customers. The latest version of xEnviro (1.17) looks pretty good in X-plane 11 (IMHO much better than the clouds and atmosphere as a whole in X-plane 12 Beta). But from what I’ve observed after a couple of flights in MSFS, I’m sticking with default MSFS weather. When using XE 2020 clouds are constantly appearing and disappearing and the entire sky looks essentially the same, just like with other metar-only based solutions. I have yet to see any weather fronts or distant buildups like with the default MSFS system. I’m not impressed with it in its current form. A few more people have tried XEnviro in that thread. Check there for more reviews of XEnviro in MSFS. My question is, for other METAR based products like XEnviro, that the comment above mentions, what happens when you leave the radius covered by METAR? In MSFS live weather, MetoBlue takes over after you leave the radius covered by METAR. But what do METAR based products like XEnviro do when you leave the radius covered by METAR?
