Trusted/gauge problem

Recommended Posts

I had a crash of fsx a few weeks ago which caused me to have to reinstall from the bottom up due to a corrupted activation error I got upon startup. After many days I thought I had all in working order. I bought fs2crew for the level d 767-upon installing I was not presented with the "trusted" prompts-and after installation could not get it to work-despite the fact my fsx.cfg file was filled with "trusted" entries for fs2crew. I then started to load other aircraft and found:Level D 767, Aopa piper cherokee, real air marchetti-work fine(the level d and Aopa piper have entries in the "trusted" part of fsx.cfg-the Real Air does not.The Eaglesoft sf22, Fsd seneca, Dreamfleet atr, and fs2crew don't display any gauges (and some have missing virtual cockpit features).I have tried reinstalling these non working products- never get the "trusted" prompt upon initial load-and can't get them to work. There seem to be no "trusted" entries for the non working aircraft above in the fsx.cfg file (but there are for fs2crew which still remains non working despite this). I hope this isn't an ugly bug in Vista Ultimate showing its' head. I have uac turned off and dep turned off.The problem seems to be that the "trusted" service is not running when installing these add ins-and thus the gauges are not allowed to work. Thanks for any help......http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

Manually edit fsx.cfg file (while sim is unloaded, of course), and remove the entire "Trusted" section...Start FSX and you will find that all products that have "signed gauges," such as those in the SR20/22 models should now load and display properly. As you load a/c for the first time that do NOT have "signed gauges" you will be asked to manually approve or disapprove of each unsigned gauge. In fact, "unsigned gauges" will present two dialogs; one for approval (Yes/No) and another for Run (R/D).Hint: if you intend to "approve" and "run" all of the gauges, you can speed up the process by keeping your fingers on the R & Y keys... then it's simply a matter of pressing R Y R Y R Y R Y as many times as needed to "approve" all the gauges... ;)

I already tried that-the problem is that I don't get the "trusted" dialogs at all-the aircraft's just load minus the gauges. It does seem to work for the modules, as they load up fine.In fscrew's case-the language is there under trusted-but the gauges still don't load.I wonder if I manually put the language in under trusted if that would work-though it would not help me with new installs.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

I had the same problem (compounded with an 'initialization error' in the Avidyne) and just figured it out by reinstalling the Cirrus from the original Flight1 wrapper (instead of directly from the unzipped .exe file you get after running the wrapper). This seemed to add the proper licenses and the cockpit initialized correctly (after loading the 2D cockpit first). For the record, with the Cirrus I never got the 'trusted' dialogs either (other Eaglesoft planes gave the dialog), so maybe it's just a quirk with this specific installer.

No, that's working as designed. If you check out Eaglesoft's "news" page, you'll see that they have gotten "official" signed status (or something like that, Bill can explain it better) so that after the first time you say you trust their gauges you don't have to say it anymore for any other Eaglesoft gauges.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

I tried your idea and made a little progress-there are now entries under "trusted" in my fsx.cfg file for the Cirrus. However, I still have the same problem-I never get the trusted dialog and the plane loads up without the gauges. Very frustrating!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

Be sure you are not loading one of the 'lite' Cirruses with no VC. Even then, load up the 2D cockpit view first (or switch right to it), wait a few secs, and then switch to the virtual: at least this is how I make mine appear (this hint is from the Eaglesoft support site).

Geofa, your issue seems to be installation related rather than "Code Signed/Trusted Developer Status" related.Code signed "trusted status" gauges are simply the same gauges used previously with the Code Signing added. Code Signing is new in FSX and is for users/FSX/MS security and has nothing to do with Eaglesoft Code other than we paid good money and do the extra work required for "Code Signing/Trusted Developer" status:-)Hope this helps.

I know it has nothing to do with the Eaglesoft code-as I mentioned above there are 4-5 add ins that seem to be affected, and any new add ins at this point that I try to install. I am trying to figure out what the problem is though! I don't know diddly about "trusted", code signed etc. are. I just know my sim is not working....and I did nothing to deserve this :-)I am trying the Microsoft resetsldl command now-I used it to correct the activation error that caused me to have to reinstall fsx a few weeks ago only because the sim crashed on me once, and I notice there is a switch that resets the "trusted". I am hoping something works...I also notice Vista just issued a service pack that is supposed to "help" activation issues-trouble is I keep getting an error on that when it tries to install.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

I'm going to try reinstalling the sim...again (7th time now) and see if that helps.Which leads me to an idea for a third party developer...How about a program that tracks all your add ins (I have about 24 now) and automatically reinstalls all of them with their various activation schemes, passwords, 4 digit credit card numbers etc. every time the sim needs to be reinstalled!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

>I'm going to try reinstalling the sim...again (7th time now)>and see if that helps.>I hope it's not a Vista thing. Unfortunately I am not that familiar with Vista.Sounds like you are in it heavy. If you are completely at a loss, a clean install can help, followed by careful 1-at-a-time installs and testing of 3rd-party apps/software. But I know you know that already Geof.I would be very cautious about messing with Windows Trusted Store. I have destroyed XP installs that way. The Activation code in FSX seems particularly finicky...much more so than the OS it seems.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian
