Graphics Problem FSX + XP

Recommended Posts

Guest VOZSean

Hi All,I seem to have this odd Problem with my FPS whilst changing views. Before I start my Rig is:ASUS P5N32-SLIIntel Core 2 Duo 67002 gig Corsair RamNvidia 8800GTX 768MB x 1 (atm)Windows XP SP2 + all updatesFSX with SP2Run Desktop and sim res 1280x1024 @ 75When I start FSX and go around all the views (spot, 2d cockpit, VC ect) whilst on the ground I average 28-32.If I am in spot view and then go up to Options > Settings > Display and change the Filtering level from say Bilinear to Trilinear I get this massive improvement in both Spot view and 2d Cockpit view. However if I go into the VC I get the normal FPS I was getting before the change, and If I go back to Spot or 2D cockpit view again I'm back to my original FPS range. So I tried it again, Went into Options > Settings > Display and changed the filtering level back from Tri to Bilinear and Bingo! In Spot view I get this massive FPS jump. I think well maybe it might have something to do with timing, so I leave it in spot for 10 minutes and come back. Nothings changed. Still getting 40-50 FPS on ground and anything up to 70 in the air. Similar with 2d Cockpit, however as soon as I go back to VC I get hit again and all the views return to the lower FPS range.I've included some Screenshots to help with understanding this issue. Please note my FPS slider is set to 61.This is what it looks like after I have changed the Filtering level from Trilinier to Bilinier or vis-versahttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175352.jpgThis is what my main Display panel looks likehttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175353.jpgThis is an image of the 2D panel after I've done the filter change, I get around 40-50http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175354.jpgIf I goto the VC panel it goes right back to the old FPS range notice the 26FPShttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175355.jpgAfter going to the VC, I return to the Spot view and as you can see, there is a big difference between this pic and the first onehttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175356.jpgThere is a drop also in the 2D, however this pic was taken during one of those MS flightsim FPS spikes..http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175357.jpgThis is a picture of my graphics card settings.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/175358.jpgGuys Appreciate any help!Cheers

Does it do the same with FPS set to unlimited? In any case, with an 8800GTX, why are you even playing with going between bilinear and trilinear? Just set it to Ansitropic, check the Anti-Aliasing box and go fly! You'll just have to make do with FPS in the late 20s sometimes ;-)Gary

The Questions is why does my FPS improve when I set it from Bi and trilinear but then goto VC and it returns to the old FPS?

Does it do it while your in VC mode? If so it may be a case of a false read. It may be combining the framerate of the setting screen with the 2D screen. Then when you switch views it goes back to normal! You can get this same effect by undocking the panel in 2d mode! BTW If there a problem with the forum? This is the second time I noticed earlier modified threads above later ones.Edit: Never mind, I must have accidentally hit a different sort by option, it's ok now, sorry!

Thanks

I have noticed this problem for some time. However, it only happens if I use payware (LDL, C 400) and not the default aircraft. I tried everything to try and maintain the higher frames but every time I use the VC and then use the other views my frames will be cut almost in half. It also happens if I use the 2d panel and use the side views. I don't even have to change from any of the filtering, just go to display and then cancel, my frames will increase. I can also do a refresh and the frames will increase until I go to the panels and back to spot view etc. As long as I remain in the spot view the frames remain high. I have also tried all the variations in the scenery mesh, etc. Finally just trying to live with it and the blurries. Becasue of these issues I have gradually started going back to FS9.Sorry couldn't help, just to let you know there is one more that can relate to your problem.CarlP4-3.4mhz,one core, 2gram, Nvidia 7600GS/256mb, windowws XP, FSX with patch

Arlight I've now tried this out and have the same problem with default. Will be getting 60-70 outside and 40-50 inside with 2d. Swap to the VC and get 27, then 25 on 2D and 35 outside..Very Odd.
