This has been posted about already, but wanted to hightlight this anyways.

If this works as advertised in the video, it'll significantly increase immersion.

FS Realistic Walk-Around Mode Demonstration

Yes, and to be released shortly after the SU11 / 40th Anniversary update tomorrow as well, as long as there are no last minute problems.  I have been waiting for this.
Little things please little minds!

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Hopefully the eye height is adjustable, unless your seven and a half feet tall.  The clue is that all eyeballs (yours and the AI are all level on the horizon line - here they are not)

Hope it can read real weather: Dry and sunny, commander does the walk around.

Pi**ing down, commander's old war wound flares up and FO dons the waterproofs.

That's fantastic! They can do anything!!!

Or almost anything.

They still can't teach an American how to pronounce Gibraltar.

But maybe... In few generations...

They've stated it is adjustable and user customizable.

Years ago Orbx had a similar avatar called BOB! Anyone remember BOB?

ORBX had no desire to bring BOB to MSFS as they've felt the default drone cam functions were sufficient enough.

FS Realistic devs said ok fine ORBX ...hold my beer! 🤣

The drone mode is for visual showcasing only, trying to use it to do a walk around is a pain in the word not allowed, unintuitive and looks ridiculous.

I hope FS Realistic's walkaround mode, follows the simple WASD of first person games, with an option to adjust height and move into third person. Maybe in the future you can get into a virtual car and drive around the airport.

Yep using the drone cam is terrible for that sort of walk around. I've been using eyepoint functions the whole time.

As for WASD movements I've read somewhere this FS Realistic feature will still require your mouse for movement.

Do I correctly understand that the walk around is strictly a camera effect? No occasional problems are spawned, like a broken light or a blocked pitot tube?

Problem is even aircraft that have those sort of failures do not usually go the extent of having them show visually. They simply effect the operation of the aircraft and show up in the "tablet".

With regard to doing an actual walk around, a lot of aircraft are missing details like fuselage static points, gas caps and gas drain points. Chips/cracks in the prop or leading edges are not a thing, nor are bolts missing from hinges etc or badly seated flaps.  It is also unlikely that you will get animations of draining and checking the fuel for water and sediment, though it would be cool.

All good points, but knowing me, I wouldn't do a walk around if I know everything will be just fine. Some airplanes do have failures like you mention. I think it would be good if FSRealistic had a kind of API for developers, so that they could place visual effects on the fuselage if a problem was triggered.

Reminds me of the good old times with A2A in FSX. They actually had a good walk around implemented.
