RTWR Presents: Debut Heli--Grand Canyon Run

Featured Replies

An AVSIM RTWR Debut Presentation - Heli Tours!  Welcome to Arizona!

For our first ever helicopter excursion, we try to hone our rotor skills in a location where there is no forgiveness.. It is either make it or break it time for the team! This is "Arizona" and the rugged and very scenic Grand Canyon.

Grand Canyon is widely considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the canyon, formed by millions of years of erosion, wind, rain and the Colorado River, stretches an impressive 227 miles long and averages over ten miles wide. The Grand Canyon is an unbelievable spectacle of nature. It is a great, huge slash in the surface of the earth with the Colorado River flowing at the bottom.

(Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours)

A Very brief brief:

The Grand Canyon is an inspiring sight from any angle, but seeing it from the air in a helicopter is an unforgettable experience. With a new helicopter tour from AVSIM, you'll travel in style and enjoy incredible aerial views of the canyon.
Yes, this is our inaugural helicopter expedition taking place on November 23, 2022: departing from the famous Sedona (KSEZ) and heading northeast into the east part of the Grand Canyon areas exploring the mighty Colorado and the surrounding canyon landscapes.

We'll attempt to make safe landings at Flagstaff (KFLG), Valle Airport (40G), Grand Canyon National Park Airport (KGCN) (of course!), then low altitude river runs north along the "Colorado" continuing to Marble Canyon Airport (L41), and further northward to Page Municipal Airport (KPGA).  We may not make it to the end of this trip but we'll die trying!

Total Distance: 159 nm (with 5 stops)

Flight Conditions:

Real Weather (if possible) for this VFR flight. (If not possible utilize the Few Clouds or High Clouds preset)

Time: Early Morning: 07:00 (Dawning light)

At about 9pm proper time I thought I'd join you all for a while. But by the time I'd GMST you'd all gone! 😒

And by the way, the fabulous payware H145 from the Hype Performance Group is on sale for 35$ (instead of 50!).

I just bought it, but it is not working at all, pink canopies, GTN750 not working, aircraft state not loading, a mess... waiting for their support.🤮
