Hey Jim,thanks for the note. What i'm wondering about is that those thunder sounds in Graphicsx are really loud when playing in preview. How comes that they are not in FSX ??Carsten

Thanks Chris,i allready did this. enviroment is at 100. Engine at 10 (for testing) and the other at 30.One question. Is their any difference in the intensity of the thundersounds if i'm far away from a thunderstorm or directly in it ??Carsten

Jim,i'm not sure if it is the distance thing. it was a fligth from nearsly 1 1/2 hours. I would expect that during this time the distance to the thunderstorm changes. The soundlevel during the flight was at every time the same. Thanks,Carsten

It's probably because the game itself is trying to suppress volumes to realistic levels.I often fly real aircraft, C172 and though never flown in storm, thanks God, with a headset on even the normally very lound cockpit and engines sounds are heavilly suppressed. It's probably unrealistic then to expect thunder to be really loud. Also, the game maybe doing another thing. It probably saves the loudest volume of thunder to be ONLY WHEN DIRECT PROXIMITY or how else can they scale the sound? It maybe you are expecting too much from this program as it's a flight simulator and not an environment simulator as such. FSX does a great job with sounds but none are prefect. It's a limit of the game I'm sure.Dan

Hello I also feel that the thunder sounds could do with a bit of beefing up.I know that you can turn up your environment slider and that does work, but unfortunately wind sounds then becomes deafeningly loud in your cockpit.(at least to my ears)I use soundblaster external and that comes with a program that allows you to edit wav files, indeed i have used it to reduce some cockpit altitude callouts as they have nearly caused cardiac arrest.....you are descending for a nice ILS app and then......."FIVE HUNDRED!"..head hits ceiling. You may also find some replacement thunder sounds lightning effects etc in the AVSIM files,i downloaded one but couldn't work out the installation instructions.cheers Andy
