fsx - aircraft config file - not read

Recommended Posts

Hello to all FS enthusiasts!

I have FSX installed on my win7 (64bit)  computer and i tried in the past successfully to add new liveries that i created , to my favorite B737-800

I use DXT and Photoshop as tools.

In the past ( 2019)  , i made all the appropriate changes to '' aircraft config '' file , and it worked ! All my new edits were shown on FSX .

Nowadays , even after following all the steps , the simulator does not include my new liveries .

I tried also to delete pre-existing liveries , and still no changes made !! Just like the simulator is frozen to a certain time, and doesn't add or remove paint liveries after editing the aircraft config file.

I need your help please, so as to be able to add my new liveries , because i think that FSX doesn't read anymore the aircraft config files , thus it doesn't apply changes to the liveries it contains.

Thank you all ,

Nick

It's hard to determine what is wrong without seeing the folder structure for you add-on aircraft and the aircraft.cfg.

Without those I would start by comparing the folder structure of your add-on to an existing aircraft.  Does yours contain the model, panel, sound and texture folders and the aircraft.cfg and .air file?

Next I would compare your aircraft.cfg with an existing one.  Does it correctly reference everything in the [fltsim.x] section?

Could be something entirely unrelated, but the above is a start.

Hello!

First of all, i would like to thank you for your fast response. To give you a feedback, the changes i have made regarding paint liveries, are done at the default airplanes ( CRJ700 , B737-800 ) , that FSX includes already.

Below , I copy paste the entire CFG file of ( B737-800) . As you will see, i have also added some cameras before 2 years and work excellent ! The problem begins from livery 9  (  [fltsim.9]  ) that is not read. I also tried to delete livery 6 and still appears on the simulator , so i guess , the simulator remains ''stuck in time'' and doesn't read the canges to aircraft config anymore.

HERE IS THE FILE BELOW :

Given what you said about removing [fltsim.6] and it still appearing I would try this.

Move the entire B737-800 folder that contains your modification as well as the originals from the SimObjects\Airplanes folder to another folder for safe keeping and run FSX again.

Do the liveries still appear?  If the entire folder is gone they shouldn't.

Hello Again!

I removed the entire B737-800 folder from fsx sim objects , started the simulator, and still the b737 with all the variations still appears like nothing happened!!! I also clicked on settings -> library -> ok -> fsx built a new library, checked again and the b737 with all the liveries, remains the same.

seems it's haunted  😂😂😂

Sounds like you have multiple B-737 and or CRJ-700 folders in you SimObjects folder.

Normally FSX will generate messages complaining about duplicate names when you start it.   Were you receiving any?  If so, then your answer is above.

If not, then the folder containing your aircraft is unknown to fsx.cfg.

Nope there are not multiply folders and fsx doesn't give me a message about duplicate names on startup. So now that fsx is not recognizable from fsx, what can i do (since it's displaying it and loading a flight with it correctly)  ? Also i can fly with this airplane ( it loads it correctly) .

nope, there is one folder for each of the airplanes above. It's just like i'm describing it, it's stuck in time ...

If you removed the one and only correct folder containing all of the 787-800 models that you listed in the aircraft.cfg and you are still seeing them, then look at your fsx.cfg file and see what SimObject folders are listed.

FSX, can't load a plane that doesn't exist, since it wouldn't find the model or texture.  If it still works correctly it has to be in a path accessible to FSX.. or you have two copies of FSX. Maybe FSX and FSX Steam?

Sorry, it would be a 5 min or less fix if I could access your computer, but since not, we just have to make a series of guesses no matter how lame they might seem sometime.

Honestly, I've already mentioned everything I can think of.  I'm still convinced that if you removed the B737-800 aircraft folder from SimObjects\Airplanes and the default aircraft still appear then you had duplicates somewhere.

With that, I am honestly out of suggestions. Perhaps someone will have a suggestion I haven't thought of. I wish you good luck.

Honestly, I've already mentioned everything I can think of.  I'm still convinced that if you removed the B737-800 aircraft folder from SimObjects\Airplanes and the default aircraft still appear then you had duplicates somewhere.

do you think re-installing fsx will fix the problem?

can you access my computer in any single way to fix the problem ( teamviewer etc.) ?

The Simulator started , showing a library re-establishment.
