It's time to switch to XPlane 12.  Asobo breaks major features in the sim, makes the sim unstable with constant CTD's, and we're supposed to wait two months (most likely February) for a fix.  No thank you...😣

This constant sim hacking is a problem.  We need a solid stable sim platform to build off of.

For every aspect I find positive in XP12 I easily find another one in MFS.

To be honest and while I am an XP12 fan, MFS excels easily in functionality and even some aspects of simulation - taking into consideration what the developers are saying about their future plans.

None of the solutions is free from bugs / limitations / innacuracies... but MFS is more functional for me.

If I specifically look ***only*** into the flight dynamics, I prefer XP12, but as others have pointed out, flight simulators, depending on the kind of use we plan to give them, are not only FM...

There's one aspect in which XP is unbeatable: how easy it is to uninstall / reinstall - that is very important for me 😎

then I see HDR switching on

dummy me, how do you actually "see" this? got a new 27" screen and HDR is both enabled in Win11 and MSFS but I somehow can see no difference? Well, I wouldn't even know what to look for...

You should be able to tell by looking at the cockpit textures. In the 737/738, I can tell by looking at the parking brake lever, the landing light switch, and the look of the yoke. All 3 look much more realistic when HDR is on.

thanks, so still not solved.

Since SU11, HDR works on initial load for me every time without any need to minimize or move the screen.

Mine is [stable]. Had maybe 4-6 CTDs since MSFS release. None over the past 6-8 months and I am in the beta group. Feel sorry though for you and all the others seeing CTDs. In maaany cases however CTD pilots admitted like „well, yes, I did not clean my community folder“ after they were asked whether they emptied that folder right from the start to see 3rd party mods may cause those CTDs. But I’m not asking you now 😉

Truer words were never spoken. As the old saying goes, "If all else fails, read the instructions." We hear complaints from simmers who strongly imply they are using the default sim with no incompatible, yet-to-be-updated, 3rd-party add-ons in their community folder. Then -- about fifty posts into the thread -- the OP lets it slip that his community folder is actually larded down with heaven-knows-what, but he is still angry and incredulous that everything doesn't work together perfectly. If only He were in charge of things, these problems would never happen. I own what most of you would consider an antiquated system. Yet I can't remember the last time I had a CTD. I get excellent performance and the sim is very stable. The main reason for my good "luck" is that I have only one item in my community folder: a replacement for the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center.

for a lot of people here the sim is pretty stable, constant ctd's are not needed at all..that is bound to be a user issue.

why not use both? i remember you have often issues others do not have.

it is part of an evolving sim.

Without HDR MSFS does this "eye adaption" thing, right? When you look out of the window, the cockpit seems very dark and when you look down the cockpit gets brighter and the outside world gets seriously overexposed. With HDR there is no eye adaption anymore, so the brightness of the sky and the cockpit does not change anymore when changing the view direction. And of course the windows desktop looks very washed-out in HDR mode.

I downloaded the beta update - is there an additional download for the A310 in the content manager, because I didn't see one....

You have the A310 Base package and then you have the A310 Enhanced version which you can get for free via the marketplace if you don't have it downloaded/installed already.

I don't think such monk-like abstinence would cut it for me till the end of my days; what does help though and can not be repeated often enough: get MSFS Addons Linker and select only those addons that you need for this specific flight! I use it before every flight.

If you turn on dev mode it will say HDR10 (or something like that) in the top right, it will say SDR if HDR is not enabled.

ah, indeed unless this is placebo. I see HDR on when switching to DEV mode and indeed the brightness is much more balanced if not stable when looking up/down to the instruments. like it
