Lol. Really? Comparing MSFS 2020 to Counter Strike?

In fact, a secret source tells me that only person has ever played MSFS 2020 - and is using 10 million different logins. Fooled everyone!

People who never have been part of the what i would call Flight Simulator scene would come up to me and start a conversation about it, telling me “wow have you seen that new simulator! I want to try it”.

I‘ve made the same experience. I started simming with FS95 and my friends never showed even the faintest glimmer of interest. When MSFS came out this changed. Many wanted to try it. One of my friends has been coming over every other week to fly, not only to fool around (that as well) but also to do proper flights in the airbus. My cousin, who is an aviation maniac (he once travelled all the way up to England just to record the sound of a particular aircraft at an air show😂) has dropped by several times now to fly. Unfortunately he is absolutely useless at computers, otherwise he‘d get the sim himself. Anyway, apart from the numbers, there seems to be a general buzz about this sim that‘s unprecedented and that can’t be a bad thing for us.

Fabulous! So good on you! Sunshine within the forum with brightness above the perception of bias.

$10 million is great for the franchise, but how much will be left to steal for years.
What is the proportion of simmers or occational players. I doubt that in 10 years this number will be as high.
Even if MSFS is on console, it remains a very closed market.

I am so pleased to be in the MSFS pilots community Not a new pilot started in 93 going through the versions as they came out migrating to P3Dv4 when 64 bit became available. I bought MSFS literally the same day it came out but  hardware issues made it unplayable(i7-4790k, gtx 1050ti). I've been watching for the last 2 years the videos on youtube and bided my time. Upgraded processor, MB and memory late 2021 and finally got a used 3060 ti 2 weeks ago and wow! Pretty spectacular!

There is no such thing “you don’t need to install”, you still need do, it will just limit you to start MSFS in case your subscription is over

My grandson has a XBOX ONE and game pass and it plays on the streaming and can be streamed on a hand held tablet or phone as MS intended, Samsung are making the game pass app available on new TVs.

Finally Microsoft Flight Sim on Last Gen Xbox One Consoles With Xbox Cloud Gaming - YouTube

XBOX ONE but better on the S better still on the X.

I think a lot of us seek the truth, and the 10 mil stat is a bit out there, at least without some context.  Clearly it's a marketing number. (I already said this on page one).

That all being said (or written)...  The fact that 10 million users showed an interest and tried to use the sim at least once proves FAR GREATER numbers than fsx, p3d or XP users EVER.

Even with steam stats showing 6000ish users on MSFS, you can look at other flight sims and see the abysmal numbers (again only on steam platform) and draw your own conclusions.

My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL |
| Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

Completely apart from the 10 million users, we can independently confirm the amazing success and popularity of MSFS by looking at the number of MSFS-related posts on various forums (including AVSIM) and the video and comment count on YouTube. For every one new post or video about P3D or X-Plane, there are 50 (or more) about MSFS. If MSFS has only been "mildly successful," then Tiger Woods had a "mildly successful" career on the PGA Tour.

Yup, not only on Avsim, but also on Reddit. The MSFS forum on Avism, and MSFS subreddit, are way more active than the competition.  On Twitch, the most popular flight sim streamers with the highest viewer count also stream MSFS.

Let's see...how many of those new users were bored and/or drunk on a weekend and couldn't care less about what they were actually doing. Based on the steam stats, probably 9.5 million of them. And none of them proactively paid cash up front. It was thoughtless clicking.

These stats are garbage for any real simmer.

and unlike x-plane gamers, MSFS users are known for being bored, drunk and couldn't care less.😀

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Wow! I guess we are not mincing words here or really tongue in cheek! Stats or no stats, MSFS is where it’s at for me. I’ll join the fake simmers gladly. In all seriousness, yes, the final line from stats or polls can be skewed depending on how the data is collected. Blow off the margins/outliers and you come to a very decent median statistical representation. The fact is, the numbers indicate success and a growing trend of what and where flight simulation is today. It has been said so many different ways, you do what you enjoy and what brings you the desired satisfaction in your hobby.
