Aircraft and Avionics Beta: The 700 Longitude Is A Blast

Featured Replies

So, there are a couple of people on DakFly's Flightsim.to page that are saying the flight model has taken a step back from his mod.  With all the talk about the Garmin I'm curious on what people think about the new flight model.

I'd kind of agree with this.  The flight model is the new (beta) stock plane is lightyears better than the mess that was originally released, but it's not quite as sharp and 'on the numbers' as DakFly's mod - especially at the top end of the speed range.

Still, all things considered, the stock plane is absolutely amazing now.

Many thanks for that list of procedures, the other problem I had was attempting to comprehend the shorthand in the flight plan so after watching MULTIPLE YouTube videos over night, I think I have learnt the following which hopefully you can correct if I am wrong:

SIDS    5 characters total, ending with a number

DCT    Direct to

VOR    3 letters

AIRWAYS    Always a a letter then numbers

WAYPOINTS    Always 5 characters possibly 2 numbers in middle

FLIGHT LEVEL CHANGE     Vor/F

STAR    5 characters total, ending with a number

Thanks for sharing. Knew some of this but some was new to me.

I finally got to try the update properly today and I have to say it is just superb, although I did have some problems getting the autothrottle and autpilot to behave properly with my first flightplan. I was attempting a flight from Glasgow to Manchester using a Simbrief flightplan and everytime I tried the autothrottle wouldn't hold the speed resulting in me switching to manual throttle, also the autopilot wouldn't follow the flightplan to Norbo! This was my routing!"EGPF NORB1H NORBO T256 ORVUL/N0434F230 T256 DCS L612 LAKEY LAKE1M EGCC" and I just couldn't get the plane to turn to the Norbo fix, other than using the DIR function! Eventually I decided to try the flight in the opposite direction and everything worked as it should have and I was totally blown away! It wasn't perfect as I had some poropoising at times using FLC but that was probably down to me...

Did you join the beta? If not, then nothing will have changed. In the AAU1 beta, the flight plan won't load, and you will have to enter it manually.

Nope I didn't and it's okay I'm pretty happy w/ MSFS currently, in fact that is a gross understatement:  I'm exceedingly thrilled with MSFS currently 🤠.  Ultra smooth, awesome AI traffic, GSX Pro is fabulous as is APLv2!  I'm in FS Heaven!  In fact if I can't take MSFS to Heaven I ain't goin' 🙃

Please do not take my word for it, nobody has confirmed that my "claim" is correct or not yet 🙂

I noticed an interesting feature: when there is a severe traffic alert, the recog and pulse lights turn on and cannot be turned off until the threat has passed.

I'm assuming this is a feature?

Per the manual:

Quote

Automatic pulse light activation is configurable on the GTC Exterior Lights page. The On setting will cause
pulse lights to flash when TCAS issues a TA or RA. Off will deactivate the automatic logic.

Been flying the Longitude a bit today. Never tried it before. Got to say that it's quite impressive. The avionics seem solid. Just getting to know the aircraft and currently struggling a bit with autothrottle. Any advice on which mode to choose for takeoff? I've tried with NAV and VNAV armed, but struggling a bit to manage speed. Is is better to use FLC and manual speed?

Does anybody know when they plan on implementing the charts sections in the G3000/5000 and CJ4? I miss them.

Navigraph has said that they are looking into developing a plugin to do this.

We used to be able to access charts before in WT mods. I'm confused.

1. TOGA mode engaged
2. Autothrottle armed
3. Push throttles forward to TO position
4. I use FLC for the climb
5. I never touch manual speed until I need to slow down to approach speeds
6. Autothrottle retards at 50 feet agl

I'm sure the flight model needs some finetuning, but during vnav descent, the Longitude met all speed and altitude targets. Occasionally, vnav went off profile but recovered quickly.

I'm sure more knowledgeable folks can elaborate and clarify further.
