iFly Jets 737 MAX8 Released

Recommended Posts

I find my frame rates definitely take a hit with the iFly MAX at even medium sized addon airports.  I'd rank it similar to FSL A320.  PMDG has less FPS issues and the Majestic Q400 is just the best at everything 🙂

Yes it does. It is really annoying. I don’t know if it’s something wrong with my setup but I have followed all the advice on the iFly forum, for example, having your throttles firewalled for the autothrottle to work correctly.

Did this soulution work for you?

Ouch, those are bad news. I'll keep waiting then...

Unfortunately it did not. I keep flying it but it is in fact annoying.

See here. N1, trim and throttle are always trying to correct for lack of a better term.

By the way, thanks for your fantastic AFCAD’s.

Thanks for the update.👍

I didnt realize they had released another update this week.

Kudos to iFly attending to some fixes and enhancements. I have been really impressed with their forum support and the professionalism shown. 👏

I am really enjoying the Max. I am currently on a round-the-world tour in my now-defunct Flyr 737 -8 Max.

Earlier this week I mentioned I saw an issue with the ADF displaying VOR distance. I am glad to see this was very quickly fixed by the team in this latest update.

It seems my throttle issues were user induced (no surprise here!)  I now put my physical throttle into idle at the top of descent.  VNAV works incredibly well now.

It's not really your/users' fault tbh... iFly simply does a poor job of blocking throttle inputs when A/T is engaged, even if the option is ticked. It's definitely not like PMDG where it blocks 100% of all inputs from the throttle. Honestly it's one of my biggest gripes with this plane.

I have a question about the units in P3D, ActiveSky and the MAX.

In P3D settings, as usual, I have Hybrid (feet, millibars). I mostly "fly" in Europe, so that's correct....

ActiveSky shows data in Celsius and wind speed in knots.

NGXu and FSLabs also seems to work and display the values correctly in the Performance predictions of the respectives EFBs. Great!

But my iFly 737 MAX...

I asked for help on the appropriate forum and apart from being told to read the manual (which I had already done) the methodology is more about me trying to find out what the problem is because in the manual and in my settings "it's pretty clear what the problem is" (or at least I'm realizing that's what they're trying to do to me...)

And here's the problem:

spacer.png

In ActiveSky, the winds are in Knots and in the EFB in M/S (meters? miles?)

If I change the plane's units to US System, the wind will be in Knots but everything else will be in Farenheit or Feet as well.

How do you have this or how did you resolve this issue? It could also be that I'm stupid and not interpreting things correctly...

ActiveSky displays the METARs and TAFs in their native formats, which use regional standards for units.  It sends that data to the sim in P3D's internal machine format, and writes out a global weather file which is then read by the add-on and reformatted into what you see on the EFB.

So the problem lies strictly in the iFly panel and its display options.  I don't have that add-on, so I can't say if there's an available option to display temp in deg C, QNH in HPa, and winds in knots, as is done by most of the world outside the US and Canada with the exception of a small number of eastern European and Asian countries.
