December 20, 20223 yr You have to enable CFD for the "8" to get re-injected ....😜 Joke appart, it's useful if you're used to fly around the same area(s) of not too big an extention, like me who 90% of the time use MFS around Lisbon, flying between LPPT, LPMT, LPCS and LPST - Enlarged Lisbon area... This way I always have smooth rides because the scenery is mostly there already, cached. Yet, even when I go "abroad", I never notice major drops in performance or stutters. MFS has always been ultra smooth. December 20, 20223 yr If you like to fly around heavy photogrammetry areas, a rolling cache can be helpful as the area you are looking at does not have to be reloaded as you fly round and round it. Personally, I don't use a rolling cache normally, but have tried it from time to time. December 20, 20223 yr I thought rolling cache only stored photogrammetry areas and not the normal landscape, personally I've never seen any improvement from using it. System: I ASRock X670E | AMD 7800X3D | 64Gb DDR5 6000 | RTX 4090 | 2TB NVMe | Seasonic Vertex 1000W I LG Ultra Gear 34 UW I
December 20, 20223 yr I find the rolling cache makes a difference when loading into an area you've been to before - the loading time is significantly reduced in my experience. I keep mine at 16 Gigs but clear it from time to time if I suspect something funny is going on with the terrain. Intel Core i5-12600k, Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, 128 Gigs.

Why build up 40 GB of data on your local drive only to delete it every month or so? Unless you only fly in your home circuit, and why would you when the entire planet has been created to explore in all its glory, I cannot see any value in using rolling cache. On the other hand it takes up a lot of space on your drive, is constantly writing data to your drive, thus accelerating its demise as SSD and Nvme drives lifespan is linked to the number of writes (yes, it is a huge number but still), and that in itself surely uses extra CPU cycles. I only see negatives in using it. You took my humorous post way too seriously.
