Msfs has deleted all my joystick profiles

Recommended Posts

The MSFS Mandatory Update 1.29.30.0 which was distributed yesterday has deleted all my aircraft joystick profiles which I set up in the Options/Controls Options and has also altered many of the settings.

Fortunately I regularly back up MSFS which is installed on a separate drive, and I thought that it would be a simple matter to locate and re-install the profiles.

I have searched the backup drive but cannot find them, does anyone know where MSFS stores profiles?

Hi there,

Not sure if it helps because all this is saved in the cloud - but worth a try:

C:\Users\YOUR NAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData the Wgs folder contains your profiles. I only have blank profiles, main settings are in my Spad.Next. I would very much recommend a standalone app for profiles. You'll never lose anything.

Good luck

Mick

Updates have set my keyboard, mouse and controller profiles to default, but when I scrolled across, my profiles were still there

Dunno what's been going on, but my sim was all over the place. Asked me if I wanted to start in safe mode, told me I had no data left (????????????) settings in control panel had been changed and I had lost the PMDG 737 in the aircraft selection screen! Luckily I did a backup two weeks ago, so I'm in the middle of reinstalling the whole sim as I type. Not good Asobo.

When I started today, a question came up on the screen on whether I wanted to keep the cloud profile or the last profile (or something like that). I don’t remember which one I chose, but there were no changes that I could see except that I also lost the PMDG 737 as an aircraft choice. I guess I was lucky 🤔

Thank you so much Mick, your advice has worked and it has saved me many hours of restorative work.

The restore operation from backup  was an adventure and it did not work at first. I re-read your contribution and in particular the information that the profiles are stored in the cloud. I did another restore operation with the internet disconnected and voila all my profiles were there again!

I don't know why Microsoft/Asobo puts some of us through all these loops, this is not the first time that I have had issues following an update.

Thank you again.
