But... language changes. It always has and it always will 😁

Unfortunately there are a lot of made up or grammatically stupid words that eventually make the dictionaries and become official.

Examples that come to mind include "orientated, "refudiated", "unfriend", "impactful" and "rebranding".

This could go on and on, I wonder why the OP didn't simply 'Google' (Which  apparently has become a verb)

'Momentarily' tops my list of toe curling words.

Especially 'momentarily', meaning 'for a moment', when 'in a moment' is really intended.

'We will be taking off momentarily' always reminds me of the Wright Brothers' first flight, or my flights when VR is too soon.

Another one that makes me wince - people who think 'aircrafts' is the plural of aircraft.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

To be fair, the English language is a convoluted affair and most of those who write that do not necessarily have English as their first language.
The rules are not even consistent, for example, it can be correct to write either two small fish or two small fishes.

Yeah, you're right, of course - but it still makes me wince. 😉

"aircrafts" is simply bad grammar -- I've come across supposed native English speakers here at AVSIM who use that term.

There are often arguments over the correct collective noun for aircrafts.

Is it a squadron ? fleet? flock? circus ? flight ?

I can now , after years of research, reveal the correct collective noun for aircraft is "moneysink".

Example of typical usage: "John had recently acquired a moneysink of classic and vintage aircraft".
