Sometimes you don't want to fly, but you need to.  Join me on an air ambulance flight from Tacoma Narrows to Orcas Island, WA.  The Kodiak is well equipped for the mission - but some precaution must be taken due to a line of storms between KTIW and KORS.

Here's the line, air traffic shows a gap in the precip even though my nexrad doesn't quite agree.  We'll go with their gap as it's slightly more updated than mine.

Finally, some hints of blue sky above

I still need to make a solid turn to the west to avoid another buildup

Moderate rain for most of the flight

A small break in the weather...

But we have another line of precip as we progress towards CVV, the iaf on the RNAV 34 KORS

With these massive south winds we elect to circle to land ry 16 at KORS

The approach has LP mins and the G1000 adds the +V so we have vertical advisory glide path during the approach

In the downwind

Heck of a quartering crosswind on final

Leads to a bit of a balloon on my part and partially off centerline landing

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

Two of my favorite airports, and I my house is a stone’s throw from KTIW.

Well then you live in a beautiful area!  I'd love to make it out this way someday!

Super cool shots Ryan.  I would fly in any weather except thunderstorms as long as the plane is IFR, it's my favorite type of flying.

It can be very awesome
