L70 Agua Dulce: WIP "God helps those who help themselves"

Featured Replies

I have so good FSx/P3D memories of this little airport recreated by the Master Jedi "Misha Cajic" and edited by Orbx. But it seems it's not on its way for MSFS, so I started this little project. Little but huge for my amateur skill. Here are very early pics. Every day is a new day to learn Blender, GIMP and the MSFS scenery editor 😉 If you have airside pictures that could help, please let me know ! I never flew there and only get inspired by my Internet search engine.

Agua Dulce (ICAO:L70) is a small airport just up north of Los Angeles. 15 min of C172 flight. It has very iconic red hangars, great landing approach and host Agua Dulce Airpark Ranch FBO where you just have to park in front of.

I hope no one has already started building it 😉 for MSFS 😉

Excellent job!  I too love this strip - also had the Orbx one!

You probably already have these pics but I'm linking them anyway

I do not have any pictures, but I used to fly into L70 frequently back when I lived in SoCal many years ago. The images that you posted look spot on to how I remember it. I am really looking forward to seeing your final product. Great job!

Your talent is a gift from God. How you use your talent is your gift back to God.

Very cool, that’s a fun and challenging airstrip, I had lots of fun there with the ORBX version.

I recently started improving a local airport with the SDK.    A few days ago I began the learning process around noon, and I set the sim time to noon.   A while later I was a bit surprised to watch the night cycle arrive in sim.   I was like, "what the...".    /so I threw back the blackout curtains and discovered that it was night time outside.   I didn't even remember to stop for dinner.    Hours seem like minutes when you're making creative decisions while managing the workflow.     Learning itself is a source of enjoyment,  but it's such a time sink.

Now I'm trying to take it to the next natural progression and learn 3d modelling in blender.    Sure as heck wish that I had learned it in my teens or 20's.    I used to read or hear something once,  and retain 100% of it without a conscious effort.   Now I have to learn something,   and the next day I have to learn bits of what I learned the day before.    Trying to encourage my nephews and my friend's son to get in to 3d modelling and MSFS as a supplemental income stream.   Teach a man to fish and all that.

Excellent choice, Orbx L70 was a nice little airport in P3D with a fine mesh sculpted around by Misha. The RW 22 has  an interesting approach 😁. And numerous movies have been shot close by. I've to go and see whether MSFS does justice to Vazquez Rocks

I was also addict to this KTNP in P3D. This lead me to make a fuel stop just to land in real where I spent so much time in front my PC dreaming of being there. Sometime passion drive to strange real behavior 😉

There's room for improvement (not as close as Star Trek) but I'm still amazed by what we got by default in this sim! Agua Dulce airport is just behind these rocks.

Things progressing nicely. Still work in progress but winter season helps giving some (free) time in front of a PC.

Agua Dulce fuel station handmade... Blender is very complex and powerful tool for what I just want to build!

Placing airport perimeter fencing is a royal pita.

I see that some things never change.

I suppose you know FSdeveloper, the best place for budding scenery artists to find help ?
