Does ATC AI sometime route you completely wrong?

Recommended Posts

Was flying from Frankfurt to Schipol and as given final approach clearance for runway 36R on heading 335 till localizer intercepted.I turned to 335 and once I heard my nav finally beeping I hit the APP. Thing is APP never did a thing and continually flew straight and I could see from the horizontal localizer that I was WAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY left. I proceeded to declare a missed approach and attempted to repeat. Once again same thing. This time I noticed I was WAAAAAAY left and manually corrected and as able to land.##### is with comp ATC tho sometimes? :)

Sometimes ATC will put you on approach way too early so you won't come into range of the ILS until you've already crossed the intercept point. Sometimes up to 50 miles out. Then you must turn back 60 to 70 degrees the opposite direction to put you back on track. The thing I do when this happens is I keep an eye on my position using the GPS map, relative to the runway track and if I'm going to cross it, I turn into it, when the ILS is back in range then I intercept.

Thanks
