First of all: you don't die from a CTD

second: due to the good stability, the save / load feature is not high priority

Well I had a ctd and it was really aggravating considering I couldn't just resume where I left off and had to start all over again. I'll live, there is no doubt about that, but in 2023 we should have the ability to save and reload. It's a low priority for some but not for others

the top prolific devs like pmdg have had this feature for years and many have benefitted from it.. if you have never used pmdg products before, you cannot discredit the benefits others have gotten.. why else w'd fenix , another high profile dev invest in rewriting efb logic to include this feature.. they must be out of their mind?

I think the majority of simmers don't need a save function, because MSFS is very stable. I also think that saving flights, which I have never found to work well in both FSX and P3D, is probably not needed by most flyers. I have hundreds and hundreds of flights in the Fenix, and other aircraft, without one CTD. I also fly every flight for a VA, and if time is an issue, I just limit the flight to around one hour in length. FSi panel is great, if you just want to shoot a few approaches, and only have around 10-15 minutes to do it.

Can agree I can go without a CTD for like 6 months. Even though its annoying after nearly completing a 4hr flight but hey. What people have to remember their is higher priority items that people want for example external engine model or a new installer so people don't have to reinstall the whole aircraft again. People may think a save should be higher but in reality you can't always get what you wish for. The dev's know what they want to do you will just have to bare with.

Just the threat of a CTD at any time is enough to make me want an autosave function. I am willing to pay for one and was going to look into buying FSUIPC solely for the autosave, until I found out from experimenting with the A320 that there's no point because nothing will be saved anyway.

I can also go 6 months without a CTD but I had one the other day so now I'm on edge waiting for the next one. I'll try some troubleshooting steps but there's zero way to tell if they're effective because the CTD is random and cannot be reproduced by any means

I’m not saying this is highest priority. I would also like IAE and sharklets before this. but this needs to get done at some point and looks like it’s already on their list.

For me, it has nothing to do with CTDs and stability, it has everything to do with time.

On a lot of occasions, I just don't have the time to complete a flight. Being able to save, then pickup from where I left off, weather changes notwithstanding, is how I would benefit from a reliable save / load function.

And it obviously can be done as I have used it with the PMDG which, btw, was great for takeoff practises - shame FSiPanel, as far as I know, can't be used for this purpose...

This is not only a question of stability and CTDs. As others already said it would be great to save specific situations like final approaches for practice. I don't want to buy expensive 3rd party software to do that.

Get FSi Panel, you can practice approaches 24/7     https://www.fsipanel.com/

Thanks for suggesting, this is definitely what I'm looking for in practicing approaches!

Also, I didn't realize panel state saving/loading in the PMDG 737 was so robust, that's great to know.

If we have good panel loading for aircraft, I still do hope for a save/load feature in MSFS that allows you to not just load in-flight, but also allows you to update time and weather to your liking just in case the sim crashes. Hopefully one day they'll add this.

loading a saved flight is extremely robust in pmdg.. try it out.. it even remembers tiny details like the clock timer, etc..

you can also edit .FLT file to allow being able to adjust weather on a saved/loaded flight.. this way you dont get locked out of the weather/time menu.. you gotta manually edit the FLT file now, but in future asobo should enable this.. I have mentioned this in another thread..

I wish I could understand your comment. Is it some kind of teenage code?

Saving is so handy as mentioned and for time savings etc. I normally save prior for takeoff ,cruise and descent.

Sometimes i forget to start the VA interface and not to have to go back to gate to plan again is a nice feature.

FSI Panel is really great for practice. I have the advanced version and only tried out the 737-800 so far.
