January 10, 20233 yr Landing at the World's Most Dangerous Airport in the cockpit | 4K - YouTube I almost couldn't tell if it wasn't real life ! Don't know what datarefs are being used for the weather(?) but it's default XP11! January 10, 20233 yr Perhaps a mod could unlock/undelete the original thread so we can review how wrong I was..... The text under that video is important Quote Hand flown Stormy approach into one of the world's most dangerous airports, Kai Tak. Forgive me for the oddly synced audio in some portions, I used a very unorthodox method of obtaining this footage. Yes this is X-plane 11. I used the zibo 737 and a port of the fly tampa Kai tak scenery. The weather is stock, the cloud textures were achieved by using Cloud art textures and a ton of DataRef edits. A majority of what you see is actually due to dataref edits. X plane 11 has some insane graphical possibilities. Pretty soon Xplane 11.5 will be out on a new engine (Vulkan) and it'll allow for people to achieve the visuals you see in this video in real time! But I also used an external application called "reshade" for the colors. a lot of the lighting/color grading you see is due to a early access path tracing shader made by marty mcfly. The coloring is done in a 3d space in real time to add realistic refractions and who knows in the future maybe reflections as well. I'm always adding new things and visual features to my videos, so expect more and better soon! The fact that I expected XP to look like that now, and couldn't get it to look like that in VR then, was pretty much my entire basis for not abandoning X-Plane then, iirc, but it would be nice to review the original discussion 2 years ago.
