Can we expect integration of AI Traffic with ATC?

Featured Replies

I am new to X-Plane. And I love it. Even though I was with MSFS since - ever.

Still, it would be good to have ATC integrated with AI Traffic. I am missing those "Go Around" commands and following airplanes lazily leaving the runway.

This - interaction of the built in ATC with AI / Real World Traffic - is one of the neat features in MFS I would like to see in other simulators.

As t was implemented, just as pretty much everything else, it isn't perfect, but it's functional.

I believe that when you activate AI aircraft from XP12 itself ( up to a maximum of 19 ? ) those actually get controlled by ATC too? but I'm not sure and I always disabled them when running XP12.

Although not directly related with your question, OTOH this new ATC system has some interesting features, and it would be great to get the bugs sorted out and additional features added.

I still remember Propilot99, and it's "revolutionary" built-in AI and ATC. It was a "light at the end of the tunnel" after years away from Air Transport Pilot...

I miss ATP Rev D and even Airline Simulator 2 😞

Yes ATC controls them but the FPS penalty is too high with 19 AI planes.
3-4 AI planes is the max I would add without impact performances too much.

XP12's AI traffic is much nor performance friendly than XP11's.

One massive known, yet unfixed issue with default AI and ATC is way too much chatter due to absolutely senseless and unnecessary turn and altitude change commands to AI aircraft. You have a really hard time communicating with a controller when the airwaves are blocked. And we're not talking approach or departure here, but center, where regular chatter during normal operations should not amount to much more than checking in and checking out.

And get this: Laminar has a fix for the issue ready, but does not implement it because there's not enough people filing bug reports about it. I like Laminar, but sometimes I just wanna whack them over the head with a frying pan.

I admit that maintenance vehicles make airports alive. They look good. Some details are truly fascinating, like stop lamps of those vehicle reflecting in windows of airport facilities.

Still, AI traffic managed by ATC is so immersive. Both, on the ground and in the air. And AI models. Looking at Air France Fokker-70 or JAL Boeing-788 at KDCA is... discouraging.

To be honest, in many cases i just land, watch the video, and don't "go" to the gate.

I agree Nicholai   Ground vehicles are a must  The oddball idea i came up with is to see tractors cutting grass. . Something to see on touchdown. Snow removal .Other suggestions  were smaller catering trucks  large capacity fuel trucks  service trucks etc. ATC  has come a long way from what i remember in XP-9  Give it time.!!!

ATC in X-Plane has a great potential. I am with XP for less than two moths. And I didn't expect "Gate on hold. Runway change under way" yesterday at ULLI/Saint Petersburg in Russia. It was intriguing but nothing followed, and I flew the route to Moscow "as is".

In fact, frequent runway changes is a usual thing in Moscow and St. Petersburg due to specific weather conditions in the region.
