If you enjoy flying the V35B..

Recommended Posts

..and you still have the default Asobo GNS530 in the panel, here is how you can get the new WT GNS530 to show.

Edit... there is another way... go to the Marketplace and install the free "workingtitle-instruments-gns". It will translate "Asobo to WT" for you.

Here is the manual approach:

Go to your Official folder and look for Official\OneStore\microsoft-aircraft-v35-bonanza

Open the v35-bonanza folder and find  SimObjects\Airplanes\MSCarenado_V35_Bonanza\panel

In the panel folder, edit the panel.cfg file as follows:

[VCockpit01]
size_mm                = 320,234
pixel_size            = 320,234
texture                = $AS530_Screen
htmlgauge00=NavSystems/GPS/WT530/WT530.html,         0, 0, 320,234

Save and go fly! 🙂

Thanks Bert.

While I was in there I noticed that there was a CVT folder for the V35 too,  so I deleted it.   Of course the sim will rebuild a CVT folder if it's required, I just found it odd that the V35 has textures that the sim needed to convert.

Great call, just done it!   Thanks Bert.

PS... @Bert Pieke - If you find the KAS297 altitude/vs selector really fiddly with the mouse, (and if you use AAO), there's a new script on FS.TO that is actually for the Carenado Mooney's KAS297, but I discovered yesterday it also works with the V35!

It allows you to use key / hardware assignments for the unit - altitude (100, 1000), ARM, pushing the control knob, and also adds the missing assignments for the OBS.

Thanks @Bert Pieke.  But I am confused by this.  I thought the WT version was the new default 530 unit for the sim for all aircraft.

Did Asobo only modify the sims default aircraft panel configs to use the new WT 530?

I thought the same and was surprised to find the old Asobo GNS showing up in the V35..

Edit: If you have workingtitle-instruments-gns installed, you should be fine.

I did not.. 😟

Ah!  OK.  I would expect they would alias the WT530 to the original unit so it always replaces the old unit when the WT version is installed.  Similar to how they replaced the G1000 unit.  Is this how you understand it now?

They have done a really good job on the 530 / 430 units in any case.

It is confusing..

Here is my current understanding:

In the Content Manager you should have two WT GNS530 programs installed.. then it works.

This is different from the CJ4, where you should remove the WT CJ4 program for the new one to work.. just to really make it confusing..

Got it!  That is my understanding as well, and both are installed.  I get the new start up screens with the satellite positions etc. Thanks Bert.

I rarely fly the V tail Bonanza and when I do it is VFR with a basic flight plan, what is the advantage of the improved Garmin ?

If you ever want to change the flightplan enroute, or select an approach, it now works like the real unit..

Kind of nice.. 🙂

Bert, I also wish to thank you for the great tip. I'd forgotten just how good the WT530 is over the default one. I had relegated the V35 to back of the hangar for awhile. It's now a joy.. Going to be difficult to decide V35, JPL152, CJ4, TBM, 737.   hmmm. decisions, decisions.  Thank you..

The HSI does not show the GSI  (Carenado problem), but I show it on the VOR2 gauge, and the autopilot does fly it correctly.
