AFG King Air non-clickable gauge problem fixed!

Recommended Posts

This is one of the reasons I haven't uploaded my fix to the library yet. Esa of AlliedFSGroup sent me yesterday new models to fix the clickable gauge problem. And it works! He has given me permission to and I've now updated my FSX update files to include these new models.http://www.flyingscool.com/files/FSX/AFGB300FSX.zipThe filename of the update remains the same. I'm going to continue to update this file as changes come in, so come back here to download the latest version. As per Esa, this is not an "official" release as he does not currently have FSX, but he is going to continue to support making it work in FSX if we find any other problems. And work is ongoing to continue to improve the model and flight dynamics as well with the help of a B300 pilot (who also happens to use FSX).In this update I've also fixed a bug I created in the aircraft.cfg file for the new paint (I had numbered the fltsim section incorrectly). Plus this update includes the update of the 2D panel to the default King Air 350 panel, and I've created a new autopilot control gauge for the VC so the FS9 gauges are no longer needed. This update includes all the files you need. You may want to just delete the old panel directory before you install this update (back it up first, of course).Let me know if you have any issues. There's a good review of the model at http://flywestwind.com/communityserver/for...ostID=4145#4290You can download the original plane including an automated installer from AFG's website at http://www.alliedfsgroup.com. Go to the downloads section, accept the copyright policy, and select the B300 in the right column under Downloads Index. If you are adept at installing files from zip files, you can also download the original aircraft and the 1.01 update from here at avsim http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...+300&CatID=rootMake sure to install these first before you install my update! And if you are looking for a real POH, you can find one for the Army's C-12 version of the B200 by following the directions at http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=18965 (use the text version of the LOGSA site).and for a little eye candy to get your attention:http://www.flyingscool.com/galleries/KASH-KROC/PTFFN-2s.pnghttp://www.flyingscool.com/galleries/KASH-KROC/Cockpits.pnghttp://www.flyingscool.com/galleries/KASH-.../Walkback2s.pnghttp://www.flyingscool.com/galleries/KASH-...ASH-KROC01s.pngLet's get those repaints rolling out. If anybody's looking to do one, I'd love to see one of N477AE (you can find a pic of it at www.airliners.net).Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Hi Thomas...Very nice work by you. Update installed and both 2D and VC seem to work nicely. Good of you to make these FSX mods.Do you have an idea of how to slow down the flash rate of the strobes and rotating beacons? There is something about the move to FSX from FS9 that seems to ~double the flash rate.ThanksRoy

Ooh, yes, I forgot about this one. Paul Dahlen had a fix for that. in one of the other threads. I'll work on including it.I'm also working on the documentation, fixing up the checklist and adding reference.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Ok, the update now includes Paul Dahlen's effects files which slow down the strobes. Thanks Paul! I've also included html checklists for the kneeboard as well as another document that Ken at flyWestwind.com pointed me to. The checklists and reference are a work in progress. I used the B350 reference and AFG checklists as a guide and updated it with information I got from Ken, but there is still some missing information: Best glide speed, V1 speeds and settings,VrV2 Vmc and settings, Vx and settings, Vy and settngsCruise Climb speeds and settings. If anybody can help update these for the Model 300 I'd appreciate it.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Thomas,Thank you for your time and effort in making this great plane flyable in FSX. Also a big thanks to AFG for there work in the original development of this plane.I am still having one small problem. When I start up the Master Warning light is flashing, I click on it and it stops flashing, thanks for that fix but the warning annunciator window does not show up. If I click on Views / Instrument Panel / Warning Annunciator this window does show up but I than have to right click on the window and click close window. I am wondering if anyone else is having the same problem.Bill

Hi Bill,The Warning Annunciator window should be on Shift-6.Have you downloaded the latest version of the FSX update? Esa gave me permission to include a new version of the model that he did that fixes all the unclickable gauges in the VC.Otherwise, the 2D annunciator window should work fine as well. The FAQ in AFG's forum explains why the warning light is flashing on startup.Right now I'm working on upgrading the 2D Fuel panel so that the crossfeed and other switches work correctly and in concert with the VC fuel panel. I'm getting there.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

I've added a new fuel panel popup to the FSX Update. Just download the above update file for the new files. The changed files include the addition of panelfuel_popup_backgroundAFG.bmp and panelfuel_popup_backgroundAFG_night.bmp, a new panelpanel.cfg file, and the aircraft.cfg file has changed. The Fuel gauge switch works, and the crossfeed switch works as designed by AFG, which is a little incorrect. In the real plane, when crossfeed is on, the crossfeeding tank feeds both engines, and the other side is turned off and the switch is a 3 position switch Left, Off, Right. In the AFG implementation, they only made it a 2 position switch, either off or both engines feed from all tanks. So, currently, my switch models this behavior (left or right turns it on, and off). When AFG upgrades the system to the actual system, I'll be able to do the same with my switch. In the real plane, there is an engine driven high pressure pump on each engine. In the nacelle tank is another engine driven low pressure pump and an electric standby pump (which also feeds the crossfeed fuel line when crossfeed is on). In normal operation, the standby electric pumps should be off as all fuel feeding is done by the 2 (4) engine driven pumps. In the event of a failure of the engine driven low pressure pump, the procedure is to turn on the standby electric pumps.Unfortunately, I don't know how much of this system can be modeled by FS. So what I did was add an engine_driven_pump=0 line to the aircraft.cfg, so that FS knows there is both an electric driven standby pump and an engine driven pump, for each engine I hope. The Standby Pump switches on the panel are supposed to control the electric pumps. I believe they are currently inoperative, however. I have not noticed any adverse affect of having them in there, so I'm releasing this now and I'll keep working with AFG to upgrade the fuel system and to get these switches to work properly (and add failure modes, etc.). Hi,Thanks to Ari of AFG, I have now fixed the inop fuel pump switches on the 2D panel and this update to the kingair300.cab file is now included in the update zipfile above.I think that is it for modifications until AFG starts their next round of updates to the model (unless anyone can think of anything else). Ari has said he will eventually getting back to the plane and redoing the systems and other things now that he has more information. The last problem that I am aware of is that the jet whine does not turn off in the outside view when the engines are turned off. The author of the sounds is looking into this problem. I know it can be fixed because if the default sounds are used, they turn off normally.Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

I'm a bit late to the party it seems, but I just finished installing the AFG B300 and your FSX updates to it and thought I'd drop a big "thank you" in this thread :)Your update for FSX is much appreciated! As is of course the original plane by AFG - top quality, that's for sure!

I would like tom add my thanks to AFG and to Thomas for a very, very great plane! I didn't know about the FSX patch until yesterday when this post came back around. This plane is fantastic! It flies extremely well. It has great frame rates. It looks like the real thing, even up around the windscreen. This is usually a trouble spot for most otherwise great looking planes. But not this one!I thing I did find was in the FSX patch, in the aircraft.cfg, the second paint (number 1):[fltsim.1]title = KingAir 300 v10 - D-IBER -sim = KingAir300model =panel = fsxsound = defaultThe sound has the word default next to it as shown above. You have to erase that word so this paint will have sound.Other than that, this is a wonderful plane! Thanks so much AFG and Thomas!God bless,Earl

Oh, thanks Earl. That was from some testing I was doing to try to fix the sound issue I have. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about sound files to figure this one out (the jet whine continues after the engines have been shut down).Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180

Say there Thomas, is there anything wrong with the battery and generator switches in FSX with the AFG King Air 300? Or is it just something with my setup?I have to switch to the default King Air 350 to turn off/on the battery or gen switches, then back to the AFG King Air 300.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian
