February 24, 20233 yr Hi, everyone, Have any of you tried to land or take off from T004 strip in New Zealand? It about 10 miles from Milford Sound. It seems to me that is impossible, and the airport facilities appear engulfed in vegetation! It can't be real... or I have some add-on installed that causes that! Regards It is a real place - Here's a photo of it. I was able to take off and land in the Kodiak. Taking off is probably best not towards the mountain if you are unable to turn/climb out quick enough. February 24, 20233 yr Author Wow! But the "strip" is wider, or it seems to me, in the video and the photo. Mine is covered nearly at 80% by trees and bushes! Something is not right here... Now I can't test it (perhaps uninstalling every add-on I have), because I'm going to go out, but tomorrow I will try, because I thought I had experience in landing on that kind of strips! February 24, 20233 yr Author Just now, Glenn Fitzpatrick said: It is a hiking retreat not an airport. What are you trying to land there ? I like to do these things. I'm flying since 1987 with the "ancient" FSX! But I have something wrong, because in the video (although the strip is not quite visible) I can see less vegetation. Regards. I'll tell you more tomorrow. I promise!
February 24, 20233 yr Well it is very narrow near the river then widens out for a bit then gets more narrow again towards the lodge. Post us a screen shot!

February 24, 20233 yr I'll have to try that one tonight in the Stearman (or the Bell 206). February 24, 20233 yr Author Hi, I’ll try again tomorrow morning. I’m thinking now that the problem is that my plane wasn’t placed in the strip, but somewhere near (where there is a rock) and that’s why... Anyway, it must be very difficult in real life as in the simulator! Regards. Edited February 24, 20233 yr by John Fields
February 24, 20233 yr I did it in the Savage Cub. But I cheated. I taxied back to the lodge and took off from there. I didn't like the looks of that mountain in front of me. Landing was no problem after I found room to turn around. There are several ponds along the strip but they don't seem to effect anything. Thanks for the post. I like a challenge too. i7-10700 CPU @2.90 GHz, 32 GB Ram, nVadia GTX1660ti, Samsung 1 TB SSD Drive

When you load swap the departure point to the other end of the runway,

February 25, 20233 yr Author Solved. I have already discovered the cause. It's the PZ50 strip from Photosbykev, a free add-on from 2021. The add-on covers the track of the WUXII update with vegetation almost completely. That's why it was impossible for me to take off or land. I hadn't realized that PZ50 was actually T004 Quintin Lodge! Thank you everybody for your help! Regards.
February 25, 20233 yr If you ignore the hedge trimming (and switch off crash detection...) Quintin Lodge is a wonderful base for the Caribou. 🙂
