List of deleted flightsim.to Mods?

I'm subscribed to several channels, I had to to get support or discuss features I want, but I really dislike it. It's an unorganized mess. I don't know why more and more developers are heading towards it.

I think it has something to do with creating hype for products. Discord servers run by developers often attract the most enthusiastic crowd. Criticism quickly gets drowned out in the flood of positive messages. There are no dedicated threads for bugs that are easily visible to potential buyers of a product.

Not wanting to track and favorites tab several addon sites outside of flightsim.to is considered “lazy” by some here. Meanwhile simply creating a discord account and clicking “JOIN ROOM” on different channels is too much work.😒

You just can’t make this stuff up here…🤣😂

They are still on there and they don't have any intentions of removing them at this time looking at this comment on reddit they did.

I'm not sure what flightsim.to are trying to achieve really other than to drive people onto other sites. It all seems a bit daft to me.

A lot of freeware addons will be lost among numerous other sites now.

Don't worry too much. I fully expect a lot of developers will quietly come back to flightsim.to once the dust has settled and things have quieted down a bit around this current issue.

I wish Discord would not be used as alternative... Registering with dozens of different discord channels, each with several unorganized subchannels is way too much cognitive overload  at least for me . Set up a simple website. Or use Avsim file database  Or use NexusMods.

The most depressing thing about this whole FS.TO debale, is the fact that (as this thread proves in the first few posts), so many of these great addons are going to move to "download link in our discord".

Life is a rollercoaster of ups and downs.   Nice things we do with our time and not so nice.  But my quality of life is too important to me, to even consider going on Discord again, to multiple channels (or whatever they call them), for content.

I'll just do without any that move to that place of darkness and misery. 😄

There are a few developers like GAIST and perhaps GotFriends that are popular enough for people to keep tabs on them on their individual sites.  I fear that vast majority who go their own way will probably fade into obscurity, which is a shame.  Truth be told there is still such a wealth of wonderful feeeware that remains on flightsim.to that it’ll just be human nature to not spend a lot of time searching elsewhere. Personally, while I do always love finding a new gem to put in the sim, when it comes to my available time, I’d rather spend the majority of it flying.

Frankly, I‘m happy for my mods to be more obscure.

most are simply gone ( all single airfields and ap mods).

I found it rather annoying to get so many pm by people asking for specific airfields. Fsto a) had a category for requests and b) just make them yourselves if you want something.

totally happy to keep the majority for myself and use it without sharing. yet I will gladly support the three collections I keep downloadable for those interested in them.

While I have made many mods for former gaming interests (Arma3 and PES), I never shared them. Only started doing that with MSFS and in hindsight, while it was an interesting ride, I am conent to be the only one using most of my work. I tend to be a bit reclusive anyhow.

Sharing only the three mods I share now, is a good compromise, though.

I wish all of the freeware authors God Speed with whatever they choose to do. I, myself, the silly little bits that I upload or make available will be staying at fs.to and I will also resurrect my flightsim.com account as a backup.

As much as I respect everybody's ability to choose what is right for them, I can't help but be left with the feeling that this is a case where there ended up being nothing but losers all around and no winners.

We lost a bit of the magic. Hopefully, bridges will be mended in the future.

DC Designs has apparently decided to put their freeware stuff back on .to, but Touching Cloud seems to have removed their content at some point.

Hi,

Now, several freeware add-ons are distributed in pages that sometimes have not easy access (or design) or that the download is too slow.

An absolute mess and a loss of time.

Regards.

It is 100 % up to the freeware modders to decide where they make their mods available. And if some of them (or all of them) decide to withdraw their stuff from flightsim.to, then so be it.

It is definitely not up to the user of these mods to in any way shape or form tell modders how to proceed or what to do.

If the user of these mods is "inconvenienced", because, omigod, I actually have to spend 5 minutes familiarizing myself with Discord, well, this is the price one pays for the grand total of FREE.

At any rate, just use the default vanilla sim - all problems solved.

Ricardo, it's the best answer that I can read in this post !
People who develop and share for free do not owe you anything: they are altruistic. The only judge in the matter: where to share their addons is them.

I created for MSFS a Menestrel (7534 download) that I put on FSTO to please a friend (US) who could not download it on my French site. This menestrel is now only on my site. For the Canso PBY-5A it will be only on my site as well as the SEPECAT Jaguar in progress.
To find the address, you just have to search on MSFS's official forum where creations are presented. Moreover all the creators of which you speak also present their "baby" on this official forum thus the single point of entry exists ... it is enough then to follow the indications, for a free product it is not very expensive 😇
