OK, I got it to work, finally. Thanks roarkrHi,As I stated in my earlier message.Panel Restore.exe doesn't work as it can't find any ini file. I get the following message after running Panel Restore.exe : Error ! No ini file present. When I run Panel Store.exe no ini file seems to have been created as I get the above error message after running Panel Restore.exe.So again, anyone knows where (in which folder) the ini file, generated by Panel Store.exe, should be stored? I maybe have some permission or security related issues I need to solve.roarkr
The ini file was saved into the same folder where the Panel store and restore files are on my setup.I tried it on my default 737 and the ini which was created was named 737_1.iniRemember this only works if the panel popups have been "undocked" first as per the detailed instructions in the author's earlier reply. http://forum.avsim.n...post__p__443003Also if you are running Win7, you probably need to Right click both exe files and under Properties and Compatibility set them to "run as adminstrator" - especially if you allowed your FSX to be installed under the default "Program files" location.Hope that helps.

I know this is an old topic but I just discovered the Panel Store and Panel Restore programs.

I have followed the instructions on how to install and use them but they do not appear to be working.  I have seen a handful of posts in this thread and one other where people are reporting the same problem I am having.  When I reopen FSX and try to use Panel Restore "No ini file present" ???

I have read in previous posts that Panel Store will create the ini file and save it in the same folder the program is run from.  I checked there and see no ini file.  I also read above that I should have both programs set to run as administrator.  I made sure of that and still no ini file.

Is Panel Store/Restore still in use?  Has anyone else run into this issue and solved it?

Tom...that means you did not use 'panel store' first.  This only works on undocked panels so first undock them, move and re-size them where you want them, THEN click the 'PANEL STORE.exe and it will save the ini.

The next time you open that SAME PLANE simply undock the windows again, then press the PANEL RESTORE.exe icon and it will automatically move and resize the windows to what you had previously.

Jay, Thanks for the quick reply.

As I said, I did follow all the instructions to include running Panel Store first.  And, it did not create an ini file.

Actually, thinking about it the window opened was a Virtual Cockpit view.  Does panel store work for VC views?

Thanks...

Tom G.

It does work with VC but you also have to be in 'windowed' mode, not 'full screen', in order to be able to undock the panel.

Got it, and, yes, was in windowed mode.  Any other thoughts on why it would not generate the ini file.
