I'm looking for the best paywares for fsx (except aircraft) of any type $50 and under. Does anyone know the best ones? Thanks in advance.

I bought X-Graphics and I'm glad I did. It really improves the environment in FSX. Beautiful clouds, very realistic looking environment. Nice scortched runways instead of the squeaky clean FSX default textures. Flying over mountain ridges or the Grand Canyon is very impressive. Every road, rail bed, river, and stream in the u.s.. I use FSGenesis FSX mesh and landclass. Seems ok to me.I wish there where better land textures to get.

Yep. I've installed Adam's replacement textures for the US/Canada, and they are a nice improvement. Subtle color changes (only) to the defaults.

I agree with the suggestions above (UTX USA, XGraphics, FSGenesis - although the airport elevation really annoys me). Landclass for the rest of the world; I use XClass (fscloud9.com). Other might recommend SceneryTech.

Megascenery.Their Hawaii is awesome.. and they are coming out with So cal (this is a huge area) this week. They also have Phoenix and Dallas for FSX in high resolution photo scenery.But the Hawaii and the So Cal are a must have IMO. There is no FPS hits whatsoever...and that is very very important for FSX. Anything that doesn't eat FPS is a doubly good for FSX.Ultimate Terrain is very good too.. Especially for night flying... you don't need anything else for night flying. UT is far superior to any photo scenery for night. The only thing is...the roads in UT is very very costly when it comes to FPS. I had to disable the roads from Ultimate Terrain. I couldn't afford the FPS that I had to give up. I had to contented with the high resolution terrain detail. Maybe in two or 3 years years time,..when we get 7Ghz machince I can use the Roads as well.Manny

I use Xclass for the rest of the world too. I'd pay to have an easy to use, one click utility to fix them. But I spend little enough time looking at them and the majority of the time flying over the country side. The mesh adds so much to the sim that I overlook the elevation errors no matter how much they bug me. SBuilderX Tutorial v1 describes how to make the necessary alterations, but it's too much for me to get into. Freeware aircraft. Get the F-14 for FSX in the AVSIM library. you can also download some freeware aircraft carrier and do aircraft landing with the catapult and the tailhook halting system. Its a lot of fun!Manny

Some air traffic would be nice, I use My Traffix X. It provides commercial, general aviation, and military traffic with real world liveries and routes. One cool feature is being able to set accurate ai traffic for time periods decades in the past. Step back a few decades to when the Concorde still roamed the air, or when fleets of DC-3's revolutionized air travel. http://mytraffic2004.com/mtx/There are freeware alternatives, but I no have experience with them.World of AI, http://www.world-of-ai.com/ Project AI, http://www.projectai.com/For me at least, it adds allot to the sim when airports are packed with realisticly painted aircraft going about their business. That and the airport improvements in X-Graphics really make airports come alive, especialy compared to the default traffic.The only other thing is Voice Buddy. I use it to control ATC communications for a bit more realism. There are problaby some good freeware alternatives that serve the same purpose, but I bought voice buddy because imo it has the best vista support.I know you said no payware aircraft, but I have to say that the RealAir Simulations SIAI Marchetti SF260 is one beautiful gen aviation plane for sport touring. It's a joy to fly in FSX, visibility from the cockpit is second to none. Capable of aerobatics, and it has a nice cruise speed. The virtual cockpit is the nicest I've ever seen, particularly the 3d gauges that are high res and move smooth as goose scat. The bumpmapped wing panels are a joy to behold out of the cockit as the light moves across them, particularly just after or before sunrise/sunset. If you ever do consider buying one, this is a top shelf product. You can put this aircraft into realistic spins or cross the controls on final and slip this thing like crazy, bleeding airspeed like a stuck pig. http://www.realairsimulations.com/flash.ph...e=sf26007_intro I haven't tried it yet, but I d'ld a Bleriot from the Avsim fsx aircraft library. When I get a chance I'll try to fly it across the English Channel as Bleriot did.I'll have to look out for the Spirit of Saint Louis too, as well as the Wright flyer. Reliving some nostalgic and historic moments in aviation would be cool and I'm sure those old airframes are a challenge to fly.
