What's your FSX "LOAD" time?

Recommended Posts

Stan-I had similar load times if not more especially after installing ultimate terrain when I was getting up to a 30 minute load!. I reformatted my hardrive reinstalled everything without a virus checker-now less than a minute with all the above installed....http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

I would say a minute or less. I use two drives in a raid 0 format. I use most of what you have with the exception of cloud 9. I have X-Graphics.

35 seconds for me, but I noticed that the flight was already being loaded while I was waiting for my clock to zero. So, it may not be a fair measure.Mike.

Hello,My load time is almost the same than yours. In my opinion it depends on the number of sceneries, aircrafts, AIAircrafts, ...I use "Filemon" it shows the access made to the HD and files , it is very interresting to "see" how many I/Os FSX does before starting the game....FYI my load time for "free flight" is almost 4 minutes , again use "Filemon" it is very interresting; Why not have the possibility to have a "compiled" version of FSX next to the actual one.By "compiled" I mean a set of files that are the result of a "compiled" action by FSX and that the game does NOT need to read to confirm the presence. Example : you use the actual version to add Afcads, change sceneries, ...... when all is OK ask FSX to "compile" the game and save the "blocked" files. When FSX Start , just ask the for the compiled version and we should have a faster load.Just an idea ....

My load time which is based on the time I click on the FSX Icon on the desktop and FSX is running in full screen mode is 25 secs.I start FSX with a saved flight for KATL using the B737 default plane.Every slider (ALL) is maxed including the 4 terrain settings except autogen which is set to Dense. All checkmarks where applicable are added and water effects is set to mid x2. All weather is maxed (cloud draw and detail)All Aviation traffic including land and sea are at 100 percent. My AI Traffic consist of 1000's of FP's that come from PAI, MRAI, WOAI, 3rd party found here at AVSIM including FDX and Boris's Cargo's. AI Planes are PAI, AIA, EVAI, FSP, Various GA and Corporate.Various freeware land mesh/terrain/roads if I like the way they look.FPS are locked at 20 and no city including KATL, KJFK, KLAX, etc give me lower then 17 FPS when looking directly at a airport. Now some of you don't think Store bought computers that ship with Vista can run FSX but this one does. Remember you get what you pay for. I don't refer to this computer as a whale like I see others post but a very fine tuned, properly engineered state of the art Computer.

My load time from when I press 'fly now' is 37 seconds for default terrain, weather, aircraft, etc. Like others with similar times I have two Raptor drives, but in my case not in a RAID array. Interesting that to RE-LOAD a previously loaded flight takes my system just 5 seconds.Of course, most of my flying is with photo-realistic scenery and this takes a lot longer to load than the default scenery, about 75 seconds.Cheers,Noel.

Have you done the routine maintence, Disk cleanup, defrag, etc? Also be sure all 3 scenery.cfgs file match. I copy the one from Docs and Settings/All users/Application Data/Microsoft/FSX to both Docs and Settings (user name) as well as to the main FSX folder. Why there is 3 beats the heck outa me, but it helps.

Startup a dence scenery/airport +/- 45 sec. but I want to go a little step further, How long take it when you are in spotplane and switch back view to VC cockpit ?I notice that switching view cost me 3 seconds to redraw the picture of the VC or spot and ofcourse with heavy iron and don't know how to solve that...Yes, I have high AA and AF settings but my earlier middle class 7600GT was doing that job much better.E6750+ P35 MB + 2x 1Gb DDR2-800 2x 300Gb in raid 0+ 8800GTS/32016QxAA and 16x AFHappy landings

I did what you said with the 3 scenery.cfgs and it WORKED.My usual start time was ALOT quicker and the flight load was quicker. Now I do not know what doing that might have screwed up,what I will be missing ect ect, or it might be a fluke.Im convinced FSX no matter what tweeks you apply will always revert to being its bloated self.I will see later if this is really has made a difference.
