Virtualization Based Security. I have no idea but it sounds impressive.

I get the sense that the value of VBS is quite situation dependent and that turning off VBS is a valid and reasonable Risk Management option and choice.

Toms Hardware ain’t no Internet Snake Oil  salesman.  If they say ts real and relatively safe then it probably is.

Windows search bar, msinfo32, virtualization-based security: enabled  or not.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Probably placebo but the sim does seem a bit more responsive. No idea about fps because I never look. As I only use my PC for simming and the odd game I'm not too concerned about security. (Famous last words!) What's the worst that could happen? A full reinstall of windows which would not be the end of the world.

As I use my PC to do all sort of thing, including online ordering,  banking and e-mail I leave it on.

I find the risk of a hack more important then a couple of FPS.

But that is also because I cant oversee the exact risks.

I9-14900K,  Gigabyte B760 Aorus Elite AX, RTX 4080, 32 ram.1 tb nvme  M.2 SSD, MSFS 2020 on 2 tb nvme m.2 SSD

I'll leave mine on in case there's malware in one of the billion ad banners on this site...

It was on by default on mine but as I don't really need a 10% improvement I will leave it that way.

 9950X3D - X870E Aorus Master- TUF 5090 OC - 64GB DDR5 - 1500W HXi - Titan 360 RX LCD - 9100 Pro x 2  - LG 45GX950A - HOTAS Warthog with Ava Base

Checked, it was enabled .. Disabled. The first thing I noticed is a more responsive menu. The second is smoother camera movement in heavy ports when using GSX and FSTL traffic. FPS never measured, I focus on a smooth image. PC: I9 12900K, GTH 4090.
Regarding security, earlier in Microsoft this option was disabled by default, why is it now mandatory to use it? I think for home use of a PC mainly for games, the appropriateness of this function is doubtful. No one has canceled to monitor their PC and not put any rubbish into it. Nothing will help there.

It is disabled on my work PC. I will check my home PC later. Would this reduce stutters at all? I am not that bothered about framerate improvements.

as are 99% of all "fixes".

With Core isolation disabled i made many tests and i got almost 8-10 more fps. As i am using frame generation i dont know if i need to disable an extra security from Microsoft ( even that i am using ESET Internet Security)

Me and you must be in the 1% then!

I have it turned off and ESET running in the background as well (never had an intrusion with ESET).  All smooth and no stutters at 4k ultra, DLSS quality setting, 60fps - so off it stays!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

i will turn it off then. Still don't know if ESET  is compatible with this hardware virtualization extra protection of Microsoft.
