ATC changes before SU12?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I did 2 flights today. ATC gave me a clearance including a 30 minute cancellation both times. Unfortunately for me, I usually start my flights 35 minutes prior to departure. I also use AI communications which automatically asks for clearance immediately upon starting my flight so both times my clearance expired after I received taxi instructions but before I reached the runway. Wouldn't be a problem if AI comms didn't start right away. It should let the user make the initial call for clearance and then take over from there.

I also noticed that I can no longer receive ATIS on either radio.

I wonder if these changes are in preparation for SU12, or is this what it will be like until the next SU.

What I usually do is shut off copilot assisted communcations before I start a flight.  I initiate and handle the clearance request, start of taxi, and arrival at the active runway.  And then right after i acknowledge takeoff clearance I switch the copilot radios back on so he/she can handle the rest of the flight.  I do this to avoid the same issue you’re experiencing in fact.

I would absolutely welcome a more elegant solution from Asobo, but this workaround is easy enough for me to get by for now.
