The consumer pays the bill and he/she makes his/her requests/desires known. So your post should best follow the one who thinks making requests, such as rewriting, is an evil thing.

This has been a great thread..Take a look at all the other posts-really!Are we not all flight sim enthusiasts here with opinions about our passion?Everyone else gave their opinions without ####, and anger.A famous philosopher did say "if you have to make your point with anger you don't have much of a point"Make your point-lose the anger....it will make more of an impact.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

But no one is angry here. I think you're too sensitive. Take a look at several threads below this one and you'll see some anger. Are you visiting those?

Well I'll take the sensitive comment as a compliment. As for the threads below-I have seen opinions but no #### or communists-those phrases stike me as rather hostile...I am trying to not just lock the thread if you get the drift...because it is a good one.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpgForum Moderatorhttp://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

I'm looking for a complete re-writing of the code. There, i said it again. This time I'll put a smiley:)

will be there within the next year or two. Why? Because the kids will make it. What direction Microsoft takes is completely irrelevant.

You know being a developer really gives you a perspective that others don't have because most of what is in the pipeline is under Non Disclosure Agreements...If you only knew what was being worked on and had been in the process of development these rants would be rendered useless and foolish...Everyone I know is developing for FSX...Might I remind the community that it took at least a year of FS??-FS2004 for SDK's to come out, hardly ANY addons came out in that time except from those talented coders who could figure things out without having the SDK's...Also FSX has been a huge improvement and each version of FS usually sees some core feature re-written... e.g. Clouds, Terrain etc...I agree with the post about hearing the same thing every 3 years or so, I wish I could archive this thread and pull it out again when FS11 comes out and people start the usual cycle of FS__ was better than FX__ blah blah blah...After 23 years of flight simming these conversations are nothing new, but I think more and more of us have been through the process and it'd be wise for the younger generations of FS users who have only been with the franchise for 1-2 releases to really pay attention to what we have to say...You will see amazing improvements to FSX, already the ground and flight environment addons that will be coming out for FSX look amazing. Expect to see some amazing things in the AI world, the terrain world and many other areas of FSX...Sorry but after less than a year of being on the market it's not yet time to make these rash type of statements about the new version... Never has been, never will be...

As a developer as well, I personally am continuing to develop in both FS9 and FSX, even though trying to manage two different versions with often two different O/S's can significantly increase the work load and associated complexity.Originally I had planned to develop for FSX only, but too many have stuck with FS9. I personally hope FS11 is not released for a very long time :-) Bryan

I agree with you grapesh. I bet flight simulator is going to turn into a world simulator - I give it about 20 years. Until we are able to get full world quality satellite pictures with night and season textures then it will be possible. And all the scenery - including 3d buildings/ houses are going to be streamed from the internet. And just think of were the graphics will be in 20 years - there will definitely be good modeled weather and physics. Perhaps someday air particles will get modeled and the air would actually have to hold up an airplane just like real life, then you will have to carefully create aerodynamic aircraft or they wont fly right - lol. I bet google earth is going to be a large competitor as well - they are already starting to add simulated airplanes and stuff, haha.

ya, I agree, I hope fs11 does not come out for at least 4 years. Just when everyone learns to create add-ons for a certain sim the next one comes out we have to learn a whole different tecnique. Our problem is the technology is growing to fast. Hopefully fsx to fs11 will not be as big as a change from fs9 to fsx. It seems fsx has a much more solid developing system that can be carried on to the next version. Fs11 will probably just contain improved / updated features of this current SDK. That is if they don't do a rewrite, lol - very doubtfull the will ditch all thier hard work.

Yes, your statement is correct. My point is developers want to find buyers for their products. Developing a program for FSX is a big risk, as it has not been embraced by many hardcore simmers. If MS started over, it would set the developers back for quite some time. I do think that is okay, if the new platform is truly superior to the present one and developers have confidence in it. We would then have to wait for the addons to arrive, but this hobby as a whole will be advanced forward for the long-term. I just feel that adding more features to FSX will hold this hobby back. We know that programs developed for FS9 are going to work, and be sold, hence their decision to move in that direction for the immediate future. I don't want FS9 forever, though, which is why I posted this subject. Curt
